Does anyone here have any Disney DVDs from Canada? If so, what is your opinion on the little notification of a French audio track being included on the disc? This is a little yellow dot with the words "Version française incluse" written in them. It goes on the front cover, examples if which can be found here:

Many people I have encoutered have classed these dots as one of the crimes against humanity. However, I really can't see what the fuss is about. Seriously, these dots are harmless. Yes, I understand that they cover some of the art up, but I really don't see anything to fuss about.

What's your opinion?

I'm from Canada and all my DVDs are from Canada but they don't all have that yellow thing. I only buy my DVDs in a store as I don't order online. It doesn't bother me as being in Canada, we have 2 official languages.

Doesn't bother me at all; plus Disney's been making the notice smaller on newer releases like The Incredibles. And it isn't present on the Treasures line at all.

Well those annoying yellow dots kind of ruin the covers. Except when I order my slipcovers from the U.S. they don't have them on the slipcovers. It's just annoying that's all, if they want to they should just have a seperate French version of the movie and leave the English title alone. I am Canadian and I choose not to speak French.

No bother to me. I have a verssion of Dumbo with that "dot" on the cover.

I'm a french and english canadian but i find those yellow buttons on the covers VERY annoying. They're not that small either, its a big un-necessary piece fo the cover that's missing.
They should just have a discreet, small translation of the title under the main title logo and maybe more french information on the back. and as for the actual dvd-case insert, it should be reversible so u can see the title in french if you turn the paper inside out i ahve that on some dvds and im sure it's convenient for people in both languages!

What? People find them racially offensive or something?

I can see how the dots can be annoying, though. Why don't they just make it a removable sticker? Wouldn't it cut costs since they'd only have to print one version of the coverart for both US and Canada and simply stick the sticker on Canada's? Afterall, the US ones are always covered in stickers already.

the yellow dot bothers me a lot. with so much passion here about upcoming cover arts in general, one can understand that it ruins everything. I think the reason why they don't stamp a removable sticker or make a reversible insert is simply because those would be more expensive to make. And they can't make one version of the cover art for both US and Canada because the barcode and legal information are not always the same.

I buy my dvds on a canadian website because it is the cheapest I found. I 've learned to live with the yellow dot. Although we could ask someone, maybe Disney Home Entertainment Canada, to put a removable sticker? This would be the best for me. Does someone know how we could do this?

I think they're too big and hide a too large part of the cover. Plus, you can't take them off 'coz thy're part of the cover. And, as a French from France, I gotta say, this is a expression ("Version Française incluse") that we never use in France, as opposed to Canada where they write French just as a too literal English translation.

I never got why they didn't jsut put a sticker that you take off, it's better and plus cheaper for Disney 'coz thay wouldn't have to reprint the whole covers everytime but choose to add a sticker.

This is why I don't mind oredering my Disney DVDs for more expensive throught American websites like Amazon.com no to have this dot. But thanks God, not all Studios add this dot.

I have one on The Nightmare Before Christmas, and since there is foil on the cover, I can't even print a replacement cover....

My Bugs Life CE (The shiny one) has that dot on it, doesnt really bother me although maybe it would if it was on the cover of all my dvds....

I find that the yellow dot is very annoying as well, there are better ways around it, that is for sure.

In regards to the use of "version francaise incluse", that is Canadian French which is significantly different from France French. This is because it was influenced over hundreds of years by being around the other languages of North America (English, Dutch, Native). Let's not get into debates about "proper" french because it'll lead us nowhere useful

I got two slipcovers today from Disney. It has no yellow dot but instead the writing and everything on it is in both English and French. It got me to thinking. Why not do this with the DVDs and then there won't be that yellow circle that annoy some of us.

I hate them! I like to buy my DVDs from Canada because they're cheaper but if I'm buying a special edition like the Pocahontas DVD that's just been released or a Platinum edition, I will pay the extra to not have the yellow "sticker" on the cover and buy from America.
I bought Tarzan & Jane and Atlantis - Milo's Return for a really low price from Canada because (In my opinion) they're second rate DVDs and I can live with the yellow sticker. I couldn't stand to have the artwork of a decent Disney DVD obscured by "The Dot"!
