I totally can't remember if I've seen this movie or not... I was a Disney Channel Movie junkie so I probably have. It's only $9.95... I might have to check it out!! :)

Ahh, one of the better DCOM's. I'd buy it, but it's probably only a movie I'll catch if I'm flipping channels.

Not a bad price. I just saw the "Boy Meets World" episode with one of the sisters in it (Danielle Harris, who plays Harley Keiner's sister) today. Anyway, it actually comes with a commentary too. The benefit of it not being distributed on home video by Disney!

On there it says Release Date: June 2005

But i honestly saw it at my work (stop and shop) when they had a bunch of Disney DVDs for sale for $10. So unless it means Release date for the internet or something.

It's a price drop, which e-tailers treat as new releases so that you get the lower price right away.

Im trying to remember the name of a movie they used to play on the Disney Channel... It was about these 2 sisters who switched bodies and one was popular and the other was nerdy and they switch back at the prom... Is it called "Wish upon a star"? I really liked that movie, I wish they would play it again or release it on DVD.

It is called Wish Upon a Star, and it is on DVD (from Sony, at a lower-than-Disney price, too). You could have found this out by either checking out the relevant section of our TV Movies page or running a site search (result #10). I think there's even been more than one forum thread on the subject too. Those would have gotten you the answer I did in less than 14 minutes, but that was pretty fast too, I guess. I just wish people would take notice of all the information that exists on this site.

Eh, Luke's a good guy, I think he'll let you live this one time. Now if only someone could help me get the song "A Pirate's Life for Me" out of my head. I rode Pirates of the Caribbean three times at Disneyland and I still have that song stuck in my head.

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hope
And a world of fears

There's so much that we share
That's it's time we're aware

It's a small world after all!

 I could not resist!

If you're sick of the Pirates song, buy Disneymania 4 and listen to the Jonas Brothers' cover of it. You'll like it 10x more than you thought you did!!

Anyhow, I probably know Wish Upon a Star like the back of my hand since we watched it so many times on the Disney Channel. I haven't seen it at Target or Wal Mart, but you'll surely find it at any electronics/music/movies store at the mall. I was surprised to see it on DVD already.

Wish Upon A Star (Does anyone remember this movie?)

"I Wish I May, I Wish I Might, Become My Sister For A Night!"- tagline of "Wish Upon a Star"

Okay, so last week I was thinking about when I was a preteen, and I remembered a movie called "Wish Upon a Star." It use to come on Disney channel all the time. It starred Katherine Heigl (Izzy from "Grey's Anatomy"). It was a funny and dramatic kind of movie. It was too mature for Disney channel because I remember them using words like "skank," "wench," etc. And there were scenes were one of the characters got a hickey and one of the characters was dancing like a stripper on the cafeteria table. There was also talk about someone keeping their virginity or something like that. They don't show it on Disney anymore.

The plot was like:

There are two daughters in the Wheaton household: Alexia (Katherine Heigl) and Haley (Danielle Harris), each as different as night and day. Alexia is the popular type with no brains, a great sense of style and the jock boyfriend. Haley on the other hand is quiet, shy and excels at math and science. Haley and Alexia don't get along much at all, with Alexia hating the fact that she has to drive Haley to school, thus being seen with her less than cool sister. Haley just wants a small portion of Alexia's popularity and one night wishes on a comet that she could become Alexia for one day. The cosmic gods agree and when Haley and Alexia awaken they find themselves trapped in the other's body. This comes as a shock to Alexia who hates the switch and forbids her sister to go to school like this. Naturally Haley is happy as she gets to do all the things she's only dreamed of including dressing up, driving and dating her sister's popular jock boyfriend Kyle (Don Jeffcoat). After the first day ends they realize they may in fact be stuck like this for a while and learn to look at their lives in a different ways. As they both become accustomed to each other's life they begin to relate to one another and become closer as sisters.

This movie taught me what it really means to be in someone elses shoes. I tried to watch the movie online, but all I could find was the last scene and a 1 minute video with clips of Katherine Heigl as Alexia. Hopefully these brings back the memory of the film:

Disney Channel used to play this movie often when I was younger. I liked it back then, and I'm sure I would now.

I liked this too. Disney should release it again, pushing Katherine. Good publicity for ABC. Or at leas show it on ABC (perhaps reviving The Wonderful World of Disney).
It was a good movie with a good message. I don't remember any of those words, though. I can't imagine Disney doing that (although, some of the Sister, Sister and Boy Meets World episodes deal with older themes). Maybe that is why the film hasn't been shown...

I thought so...

The film is a 1996 DCOM. Looks like you can buy it, too. :)

PS
I think this thread should be in General Discussion.

Technically, though it premiered on the Disney Channel and regularly aired on it, I don't think Disney had any say in producing it. But the connection is obviously strong enough for me to include it on the DCOMs page and the fact that Disney doesn't own video rights is good in that the movie has made it to DVD and with a commentary, no less.

Moving to General Discussion...

I remember this one, but I never really watched it fully. I was curious about it because I really dug Katherine Heigl after seeing "My Father the Hero" and Danielle Harris after seeing her in some revolutionary war sitcom pilot that didn't survive, but when I saw them in this, they didn't seem as appealing as before to me, ha.
