what's your favorite bonus feature in any Disney DVD ?
or do you think there is a best bonus that people just can't miss,
is even worthy to get the DVD just for that part ? please share :)

i think my favorite is the recording session of the duet " A WHOLE NEW WORLD " from the Aladdin PE,
because i am a fan of Lea Salonga for a long time ,and i think its so precious to see what it's like when she was actually recording the song! amazing! i so hope other DVD can include this kind of stuff!

the other one will be the ONE BY ONE short in Simba's pride special edtion,
to be short,i got the DVD for that short! and i think it's worthy!

I like the storyboards and how the film was made. I really liked how they did that with Bambi.

A few favourites:

Mulan's International Journey (Mulan):
I just find this interesting as it's fascinating to see how Disney dubs their films in other countries, and I like the multi-language reel.

Music Magic: The Sherman Brothers (Bedknobs and Broomsticks):
Although there's no real making of thingy on the DVD, this is an amazing thing that comes close. Plus, what makes it better is that at the end, you can see Mickey doing a little dance to cheesy Vault Disney music. Sweeeeeet. 8)

Art Galleries (Pocahontas):
Will they ever end? Even for the lesser characters, there's lot's of stills here.

Disney Through the Decades (Snow White):
Although the Disc 2 of SW contains more meaty things, this documentary is a lovely nostalgic look back, even if a bit promotional in places (see, I love shameless advertising).

Alice daydreams in the park (Alice in Wonderland):
Just soothing to watch and hear.

Transformation Song with Lyrics (Brother Bear):
Same as previous bonus feature.

Audio Commentary (Dumbo):
Me likey this audio commentary! Has lots of interesting facts and opinions from John Canemaker! I lurrrrrrve it! :D

Diamond in the Rough: The Making of Aladdin (Aladdin):
'Nuff said.

Lumiere and Cogsworth Area on Disc 2 (Beauty and the Beast)
You didn't like this platinum's bonus material? Just watch all the stuff in this area and you'll change your mind.

The Making of Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins):
This was a nice inclusion and very informative.

I love listening to the Audio Commentaries. Its cool to listen to funny anecdotes while watching the movie. I like that Aladdin has one of the Filmakers and one of the Animators.

Also I love watching interviews or recording sessions with the voice talent. I dont know why Disney doesnt give us more of those.

That's a great list, Wonderlicious! I'm going to be repeating some of it, but here goes some things which come to mind...

<b>Diamond in the Rough: The Making of Aladdin</b> is just a fantastic and comprehensive making-of documentary. The mix of old footage and the retrospective night content works really well.

<b>The Story Behind <i>Toy Story</i></b> - Nice general half-hour documentary.

<b>The Making of <i>Bambi</i>: A Prince is Born</b> - Easy to appreciate and very cool that they brought in the living filmmakers to participate.

<b>Inside Walt's Story Meetings</b> (on <i>Bambi</i>) - An innovative advance over the standard historian's commentary.

<b>The Story Behind the Masterpiece</b> (on <i>The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh</i>)

<b>The Making of Mickey's Christmas Carol</b> (on Mickey Mouse in Living Color, Volume 2)

<b>One Hour in Wonderland</b> (<i>Alice in Wonderland</i> ME) and <b>I Captured the King of the Leprechauns</b> (<i>Darby O'Gill</i>) - nice vintage "Disneyland" specials.

<b>Conversations with...</b> series (Vault Disney DVDs) - Nice way to catch up with Disney veterans and reflect upon their various work. Subjects have included Tommy Kirk (<i>Old Yeller</i>), Tim Conway (<i>The Apple Dumpling Gang</i>), John Hough (<i>Escape to Witch Mountain</i>), James McArthur (<i>Swiss Family Robinson</i>)

<b>"Fleabie Reel"</b> (on <i>A Bug's Life</i> CE) - This was my first 2-disc set and it will always stay clear in my memory.

<b>Deleted Songs</b> from <i>Aladdin</i> - These were a cut above most deleted material.

<b>Deleted Scenes</b> from <i>The Incredibles</i>, <i>Mulan</i> SE

And for sheer weirdness, <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/mmlivingc ... ><b>"Mouse Mania"</b></a> from the Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 2 DVD gets a mention.

Pixar Goodness:
The Pixar shorts, whether they're related to the films (like <b>Mike's New Car</b> on <i>Monsters, Inc.</i> and <b>Jack-Jack Attack</b> on <i>The Incredibles</i>) or not (<b>Geri's Game</b>, <b>Knick Knack</b>, <b>Boundin'</b>, etc.), they're wonderful inclusions. In fact, those not related to the films kind of are the moment they play alongside them in theaters.

The <b>Outtakes</b>, particularly the two sets on <i>A Bug's Life</i>, are hilarious. The novelty began to fade for <i>Toy Story 2</i> and <i>Monsters, Inc.</i> as others imitated it and there's only so much to do with these, but those are still inspired.

Games:

<b>Timon & Pumbaa's Virtual Safari 1.5</b> - On <i>The Lion King</i>, it was like "Why did they put time into this instead of substantial stuff on the film?" On <i>The Lion King II</i>, the novelty had already worn off. But on <i>The Lion King ½</i>, even with my limited knowledge of Disney theme parks, this made for a very fun-spirited activity.

Just Kind of Cool:

The <b>Virtual Aquariums</b> on <i>Finding Nemo</i> and <b>Virtual Forest</b> on <i>Bambi</i> are just neat.

<b>Disney Time Capsule: 1942</b> on <i>Bambi</i>, and even the ones that just focus on Disney projects (the Vault Disney DVDs) are good for some slickly-edited nostalgia.

I might add more to this later, as there's much I haven't come to yet.

This is tough... tough remembering specifics.

"20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" has a lot, as does "Old Yeller," "Pollyanna," -- and Pixar's contributions are good, too!

I like watching Walt's intros, when movies, etc. were shown on "Wonderful World of Color." I wouldn't mind seeing more -- even a DVD series/Walt Disney Treasures volumes of his WWOC. I like his enthusiasm and warmth.

I also like the behind the scenes features: "Sleeping Beauty" is chock-full of these. "Mary Poppins" (both Gold Collection and 40th Anniversary) provides a lot, too.

"Old Yeller" has a nice piece on the property Disney used for various movies -- I think it's called the Golden Oak Ranch.

General Special Features I enjoy: Theatrical Trailers and Substantial Image Galleries. In my opinion, every Disney DVD should have these. Even the live action films can have substantial galleries. Sometimes the print advertising sections are the most facinating, and these are not limited to animated features.

Specific supplements include:

Atlantis CE is an awesome disc, but the special feature I like the best on it is the Analysis of Mike Mignola's Designs

Also on Atlantis is the superb Alternative "Viking" Opening which is fully animated and complete (and, in my opinion should have been in the final film).

The French Peter Pan 2 disc set has an excellent half-hour or so documentary on Walt Disney's Nine Old Men, which is just a talking head interview with John Canemaker with odd clips and stills. It sounds boring as <strike>hell</strike> heck, but it's one of the best documentary featurettes to come out of Disney's home video division ever! But don't worry if you're missing out - it appears to be on the upcoming Cinderella set too.

Other special features that stand out include:

Alternative Endings from the Anchor Bay Watcher in the Woods disc.

Un Homme Libre music video, on the French Treasure Planet DVD, sung by John Holiday (their version of "I'm Still Here", and it rocks!)

Premiere Episode of House of Mouse on "Snowed In At The House Of Mouse" (R1 only). Now, how about a season sets of the whole thing Disney!?! Also, the Premiere Episode of Teacher's Pet on the rockin' Teacher's Pet DVD.

Phil Collins Song Demos on the Tarzan CE. I actually prefer the demo "Celebration" over the final "Son of Man"! A big thumbs up to Mr Collins for letting his work in progress be released.

Tim Burton's Early Films on the Nightmare Before Christmas SE. Especially Vincent. I also like the "making of" on this disc, but cannot single it out in bold as it is edited down from the LD release. :(

Strike! The True Story on the Newsies disc. I like this as it tells the facts and shows that like 99% of all "based on a true story films", the actual film is heavily romanticised. Not that there's much wrong with that, especially when a proper documentary is easily available.

Deleted Scenes on the Lilo and Stitch SE – including the infamous Plane Hijack sequence, and also a much more violent confrontation between Stitch and Jumbaa in Lilo's house!

The Story Records which appear of a couple of the wonderful Vault Disney DVDs. I like the idea of being able to hear an exact copy of a record children could buy in the 1960's – the only way at the time people could relive their favourite movies before home video and multiple TV channels.

The features I love most are:

* Theatrical Tarilers - Too bad Disney doesn't seem to think they're important.

Pirates of the Caribbean episode - That World of Disney episode that's featured on the Pirates of the Caribbean bonus material. It's one of my favourite rides ever, so this is a real treat for me.

Alen Menken Special - The one featured on the Aladdin PE. I think it's a really cool piece to add, and both he and Howard Ashman have earned their place on one of their movie's disks.

The Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty virtual galleries made me happy. :D I also love restoration featurettes, trailers, and most making-of documentaries.

My sentiments exactly. Every animated DVD Disney release should include these, IMO. I especially love outtakes -- real ones, not the contrived Pixar ones (although those are often hilarious). Gosh, what I'd give to hear Robin Williams' outtakes from Aladdin.

But I really enjoy watching on-camera interviews with the voice talent, and especially footage of in-studio recording sessions. (Ditto on this for Robin Williams as well.)

Why Jim Cummings hasn't been interviewed on-camera for any of the DVD releases of Disney features he's been involved with is beyond me.

I will give Disney credit for producing some great documentaries for their classic titles, like "20,000 Leagues", "Alice In Wonderland", and "The Apple Dumpling Gang". And Pixar understands the DVD format perhaps better than any other studio, packing as much bonus content (even original content made specifically for DVD) as possible onto every DVD release.

But on the other hand, Disney's still the worst transgressor for releasing classic movies in full screen with horrid pan-and-scan, and denying DVD collectors the original theatrical widescreen versions of such great family movies as Blackbeard's Ghost, Ernest Goes To Jail, and The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Alan Menken, Musical Renaissance Man, is by far one of my favourite features on any Disney dvd. Also, basicly anything that was on Snow White, a special edition dvd has never been so insightful into the making of the movie, the combination of all the behind the scenes stuff and the trailers of all the re-releases really gave a feeling of the impact the film has made throughout the years.
