I have lately been very curious about Studio Ghibli`s movies and have checked the internet for all the information I could finf about the studio and it`s movie. I have never watched any of their films (not even Spirited away). I really want to have their movies on dvd. In my country, only two of them is out on dvd (Spirited & Mononoke). I noticed that the us versions are so weird, they do not have the same cover art theme.
But then I found this site: http://www.madman.com.au/studioghibli/index.html

It would be so cool to have all of these dvd`s, they all have the same cover art theme (Studio Ghibli Collection logo inn the gold line).
But I was wondering if any of you know if this site can be trusted?
It looks legal, but i don`t really like buying things from unknow sites.
Does anybody else collect Ghibli movies?

Yeah, there legal. Madman owns the Region 4 Aussie rights to the Ghibli films. Interesting fact Australia is the only country to have Grave of the Fireflies as part of there Ghibli collection.

Yes, I hear that Madman is a very good company and can be trusted.

At least unlike Disney, they can keep uniformity in their Ghibli DVD's and have good cover art.

Also we might be able to expect 2 Ghibli waves from Disney this year. Disney and Madman have released their waves exactly the same. On the site Madman says that Pom Poko, Totoro, the Yamadas, Whisper of the Heart, and Only Yesterday will get releases in 2005. If you include Howl's Moving Castle you get enough for 2 more waves.

I disagree...I think Disney's produced good cover art (except for Porco Rosso) for all their Ghibli releases. Kiki's and The Cat Returns were very colorful.

I've been slowly starting to collect Ghibli films. I have Kiki's Delivery Service, The Cat Returns and Princess Mononoke. I plan on getting Spirited Away later on, and maybe check out Porco Rosso.

When it came to the English dubbing/voices, Disney has done a great job. :D

The US Porco & Cat Returns covers are horrible in my opinion. I also think the US Mononoke & Spirited Away covers are bad. Nausicaa and Totoro got the best region 1 covers. Disney used the Japenese VHS cover for the region 1 Nausicaa DVD. Laputa and Kiki got ok covers.

I agree that the lack of uniformity in the Ghibli artwork is annoying. I actually like the cover art for their first wave (even if Spirited Away was a bit bland) as opposed to the "take a publicity photo and blow it up without having to create new artwork" approach that the new wave took. Oh, well. At least all of their spines (mostly) match.
