hmmm....

So the logical questions are:

Where is it stocked?
Who is the target market?
Is $29.99 too high for kids?
Is $29.99 too high for a DVD?
Why do this and games for the PC and consoles?

If this works...are we going to be inundated with stand-alone DVD games?

A DVD made soley for a game... Yeah. Not going to buy this, and I hope it doesn't sell. People buying a Lilo and Stitch movie and getting a game will be disappointed. And if it sells well this stuff could continue.

As strange as this sounds, even I don't think I'll be picking this one up.

it sounds similar to the VHS/board game phenomenon that swept the nation back in the early 90s. There was a game called 'Nightmare' where you followed the video with an actual playing board. Mind you with VHS, the tape always played the same so you got bored after a while. At least DVD has the advantage of giving you MORE than one game...but still. It does seem like a wasted concept.
A bonus feature at best.

Anyways, I'll reserve too much judgment until it is actually on the shelves...

To be honest, I think the idea's cute, but 29.99 is much too high for a DVD game. Will I buy this? No, but I'm still curious about it and would actually like to play it to see what it's like. Also, I don't see what harm Disney DVD games would cause. Actually, I'd prefer Disney would do this than fill up their movie DVD's with stupid games (which seems to be the case with Finding Nemo).

Well, the SRP is $29.99...so that means it will be around $19.99 at most opening week.

That retails for $49.99 and though I've been interested, it sounds too limited to pursue. But that's a movie game, and this is more of a board game.

I don't know - it seems like John Heard's character from "Big" would raise his hand at this point and say "You think kids are going to shell out $20 for a board game?" and then the Disney executives would try to explain that it's much more than that, interactive, and what have you.

I think I like Josh's interactive comic book idea better, though.[/img]

I've seen that game in stores before, too, but 1. its price was somewhat steep and 2. like you said, it'd get old after a while unless they release more DVD's like how Disney released more card packs for their Wonderful World of Disney Trivia Game.

Another problem with that game is that they only have clips from certain studios, and of course, Disney is NOT one of them.

The only DVD game I have is Dragon's Lair, which is just like the classic video game. I was a big fan of that game, as many folks were when it came out, so I had to have the disc. It plays just like the arcade game only you have to use your remote to play it, of course.
