Question about Amazon pre-orders

Do they generally ship Disney pre-orders before the actual release date? I know they did this for Bambi but wasn't sure if they've done this for the other recent releases (the Incredibles, Mary Poppins, etc. . .).
And did you get the slip cover with your dvd? Thanks.
Side Note: Why isn't Disneydirect.com allowing for pre-orders of Pocahontas? It will be released in a few weeks and nothing about it on their website. I'm rather disappointed because I was hoping for lithos or plushes to accompany any preorder combos.

All I can answer is the question on shipping. I know people who pre-order from Amazon say they get things shipped before the release date, but my pre-orders NEVER have.

They almost always get it to you by release date. Sometimes, you get lucky and get them a day or more early, but it's not something you can count on.

When I pre-orderd my Bambi PE DVD, they sent it a day early but I came like after 2 days after the release date.

My sister preordered The Last Samurai on Amazon (using my account), and got it the day before it was released.

I've managed to get things on of before release date sometimes, and that is with international shipping!
So if you are lucky, Amazon sometimes get them out very quickly.

I got my own serious pre-order question, because the price always looks SUPER-LOW when you can pre-order. Then when it's released, the price goes up by 5-10 bucks more, do you ever have to pay MORE money when they get it than what they said you could pre-order it for? Do they make you pay more after they get it, does the pre-order price ever change?

When preordering from Amazon, you get the price you preordered at. They don't charge you until it ships, but regardless of that, you will get the preorder discount. If they lower the price before release, they usually (maybe always) will automatically adjust your order to reflect the greater savings. If you don't order until after release date, you'll wind up getting whatever price it is then, which often times is a few bucks more than the big preorder discount, depending on the title. If a discount is 30% or 35%, it's unlikely they'll go any lower. It's only on the rare major title they do.

Basically, Amazon offer a bigger pre-order discount because it means that they can get stock in at little risk - they know most of the pre-orders will be shipped within a day of the stock arriving.
When you order an item that has been available for a period of time, you have to pay for the product being purchased and stored in their warehouse.
