Ok I've heard a lot of stuff about Lost in Space, it's mentioned in loads of sitcoms like Will and Grace, The Simpsons and Futurama, I've never seen and now I've seen the complete 1st and 2nd series available for about £15 each (approx $28 ). I am really tempted, but at the same time my tiny little brain is crying!
What do you think?

I've never seen it, but according to my Mum and Dad, it's abysmal. However, there's a funny spoof of it in The Simpsons episode where Marge reveals her fear of flying.

Seems like a pretty good price, compared with what Season 1 alone is going for in canada ($69). And it's weird how region 2 has all of Season 2 in a single volume, when North America has it split up over two. Even the North American prices aren't so bad, though, when you consider how much Season 1 had in terms of content. It contains 29 episodes, clocking in at approx. 50 minutes each. The total running time on the box is estimated at over 1400 mins. That's a hell of alot more than most modern shows have. Seasons 2 and 3 have equivalent running times.
As for buying it, though, you just need to decide how much you can appreciate cheesy, camp sci-fi. And LiS is camp sci-fi at its best. Personally, I loved the show; and own the first two Seasons. I'm waiting for the second Volume of Season 3 to come out getting that season.

You should consider watching it yourself before condemning it; your parents probably just don't look at it the right way. It
is abysmal, but that's why it's a cult classic and great sci-fi. It's abysmal in a great way.

Any particular reason?
Anyway, where are the other two people who supported it? So far we have 3 for and 3 against; and all the against people have posted. I feel pretty alone here, trying to defend the show

Reasons to buy Lost In Space:
1) Seasons 2 and 3 have an excellent theme tune!
2) Season 2 is actually quite fun - not to serious and not to campy
3) Jonathan Harris is always a delight as Dr Smith.
4) One episode, I don't know from which season, features Robbie the Robot. 'Nuff said.
Reasons not to buy Lost in Space:
1) Season 1 is way to serious and (IMOHO not that interesting)
2) Season 3 is way to campy, which can be good for some of the stories, but I can't see myself ever watching 20+ episodes of it in any sort of hurry.

Well, I'm not a 1960's fan of that show and it's really lame and old.
I prefer saving my money for something new like Angel or Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The Simpsons.

What, so you only like new stuff? The shows you listed are allright, for the most part, but the majority of new shows are garbage. It's almost all reality these days anyway, or stuff like Smallville or the OC. If you ask me, television's going downhill except for stuff like "Curb Your Enthousiasm", "The Newsroom" (canadian), "The Office", "Deadwood", "Carnivale", etc. Those shows are great.
If you don't really appreciate the appeal of shows like LiS, that's fine. But it isn't "lame"; just not to your taste. And it has little to do with age. I was born almost 20 years after LiS began; but I still think it's great.

Well I was born in the early 80's so I prefer Knight Rider, A-Team and Magnum, P.I. I prefer the Lost in Space movie from the 90's.
I heard that WB was making a new version of Lost in Space but it never got pick up.
Danger Danger Robinson don't get Lost in Space.

I bought Season one when it was only $29.99 in the USA, but than It shot back up to $57.99 and I also bought Volumes 1 and 2 of Season 2. I love the show personally, but you should only buy it if you want to dish out the money for it.
