Just reviewd the disc. The transfer and sound are amazing. The film looks brand new. Scott McQueen did an amazing job. The extras will take you hours including a phenomenal making of featurette. I beleive that all the technical details have been posted previously so I will not repreat them here.

The second disc is also in the "Vault Disney" style. Very fun to navigate around. Grand Canyonscope" is great to have. Jules Verne piece is entertaining and it is fun to actually navigate around the Nautilus.

This is a tremendous set of a wonderful film. Please post if you have any specific questions.

"Lost Treasures" includes the Sunset Squid sequence.

The disc also includes a 1954 Disney Studio Album.


On the left side of the screen are the three main documentaries:

1. The Making of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
2. Jules Verne & Walt Disney: Explorers of Imagination; and
3. The Humboldt Squid: A Real Sea Monster

Personally, I love the Vault Disney format and hope that they never lose it. It is a great way to organize the content on this phenomenal set.

How did you get the movie so early??

does it have the disneyland episode of the making of?

I had cancelled my Amazon order due to lack of funds, but I'll have a good pay day next week (as opposed to those bad ones....), so perhaps I shall reorder it.
It has been a while since I have watched it, but I do have fond memories of it.
The Vault Disney series has not been released here yet, so it has been quite expensive for me to order stuff from the US, but I might make an exception in this case. I do want to get the Parent Trap Vault, as well as Swiss Family Robinson one, but I haven't seen the latter in many years and I want to go to the video store and remind myself of whether I liked it or not.
Anyways, thanks for posting - you've convinced me to spend money (but that really isn't hard). Just wish ALL the movies would get this kind of treatment (DARBY O'GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE!!!!)

This is a fantastic movie - its very unlike most of Walt's other films, certainly a unique piece, and not as lighthearted as films like Treasure Island and Swiss Family. I can't wait to pick this one up.

Clips of the Disneyland Making of are included in the new documentary but I have not found it here in its entirety. I should note that the new doc is over 90 minutes and is the best produced documentary that I have viewed on a DVD. The footage that they found is incredible, the all new interviews are well integrated and the details of the history and what was actually going on at the time is fascinating. This doc is the best feature on the disc. Almost as fun as watching the movie itself.
