It's a tiny sentence in this huge (yet detailed) article about the Disney DTV franchise but we get half a sentence that explains it all plus a little on other possible DTV titles.

Other ideas in development at DisneyToon Studios include a non-TV pilot Cinderella III (built around the stepmother using the fairy godmother’s magic wand to turn back time) and a rumored plan to free Mickey Mouse from his corporate icon status with an “edgy” yet true-to-his-roots CGI update. An announced, promoted on video and then-shelved Dumbo II from longtime DisneyToon producer Jeannine Roussel may still see the light of day. “There were story issues,” she explains. “We hit a little bump with it so we put it back in the oven to bake a little longer until we feel like it’s ready.
and now for thoughts...

turn back time? Is that a really lame joke? And Mickey in a true to his roots CG update? what, Steamboat Willie goes CG?? Mickey doesn't need any updates, he is perfectly fine the way he is.

No offence if the people who invented that plot are reading this, but that plot just sounds stupid.

Hooray Mickey!
Thank God, it seems we will see Mickey in a good role where he isn't all PC and "nice"! Although I don't think it's going to be along the scale of Reservoir Dogs though! Although I would've prefered 2D rather than CGI but hey hum, you take what you can get! Here's hoping there's a chance it may be theatrical!

I actually think that plot is very original! Of course Walt Disney would never have thought of a plot like that, but simply because he didn't had (or not much) sci-fi in his time. Be glad the stepmother won't go into the future! I wonder why she's going to travel back in time though? To prevent Cinderella from getting the key from the tower door?
That article is VERY interesting by the way! It's nice that Mark Dindal thinks Kronk's New Groove is funny and interesting. If he approves it, I bet I will too! I'm even more a DisneyToon Studios fan now. That article really shows why they are doing sequels and their "shame" for some sequels (that most people don't like). Interesting read!

Well i wish they wouldnt make a sequel to every film Disney have made but it seems to be going that way, which is sad.
But im hoping these sequels turn out well and get away from some of the cheapquels. Im looking forward to Stitch has a glitch, Bambi 2 and Kronks new groove the most!

As an idea it's original and interesting one. However, on a movie will look really stupid.

Here's hoping that this new Mickey movie is going to be something that we haven't seen in a long time, a true return to his roots, the "barnyard" shorts from the 20's and 30's. Those were always fun!

Cinderella III will basically be #1 only with newer animation, (most probably) bad actors and cheap magic tricks that'll turn back time!

I actually like this idea. I like Disney movies with strong villains, so this is a step up from most DtV cheapquels. It's all going to depend on the script, though.

Cinderella III (built around the stepmother using the fairy godmother’s magic wand to turn back time)
i was thinking again to this storyline and was so disgusted!! Come On, Cinderella! A pure classic masterpiece, has to sold next to a "movie" that will make the StepMother go BACK IN TIME??? man this is a PURE outrage to the essence of the original movie...
No it can't be, it HAS to be an april fool!

The idea of the stepmother going back in time is too modern an idea for the fairy tale. Now if the stepmother wanted to steal the Fairy Godmother's wand to be rich or to take away Cinderella's hapiness then the story would make more sense.

Thanks for sharing this with us toonaspie

Cinderella III doesn't seem the greatest but i'm pretty sure it'll be better than the first sequel which had 3 mini stories

Are you serious?
Well my thoughts can be summed up into this for the 2 animations:

Hey guys guess what we were giht Cinderella was suppose to be a cartoon series.

So kuddos to us on that one.
Now Regarding the Cinderella Plot. Its lame it dosent really seem to fit in with the story at all

. I mean how is the Step mother suppose to go back in time. I mean this is like Cinderella flashed forward. It just dosent go. I mean if this is the case I rather haver another Cinderella II that at least some what stays true to the story. But this just my opinion yeah the story is orignal but it dosnet go with our Walt Disney's version of the story.

Maybe she'll go back in time and erase the events of the sequel.

Going back in time isn't "modern" at all. The Fairy Godmother's magic can probably do anything, so time traveling is one of them. Of course nobody was thinking "Hey, can't she wish to go back in time instead of wanting some fancy clothes and other fancy stuff for a few hours?" when Cinderella wished to go to the castle... The stepmother probably discovers about the Fairy Stepmother and sees her chance to use that magic for her own good. This isn't modern at all, it's just a way of payback on the stepmother's side (I think). This could have happened in the original movie too...
