Anyone looking forward to the upcoming 25th anniversary edition dvd of Flash Gordon?

I have held off from buying the current edition due to it's high price!

Glad I waited!

I loved this movie as a kid. Haven't seen it for years though.

They say it has a large Cult following?

Any fans out there???

I'm not really a fan but I really used to enjoy the animated series that was out in the 80's... I think it was 80's. Apparently not a big enough fan to even check which series I used to watch as a kid.

As for the movie... well I haven't seen it in many years and I forget it but I know I've seen it.

So I guess I'm not a fan but I do know more about Flash Gordon than most. I like those old Flash serials.

It doesn't seem as though that Flesh Gordon Anniversary DVD will be released any time soon. There's no listing anywhere.

Well I do see a future release of Flash Gordon (and it's confirmed to be 1980, so it's the movie and not the serials) for my Birthday, October 10th, of this year. But it's Region 2, aka- Europe. Though there's no indication of whether it's a Special Edition or more/less. It is definitely a re-issue, from the same company, Momentum Pictures Home Ent.

That's most likely the big new edition DerekG was excited about.

Original 1940s Serial – Episode 1 of ‘Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe’

Only the sound remixes for Deathie to get excited about really stand out. The Mike Hodges Audio Commentary was available on the French set (as was the Interview I believe). Brian Blessed's commentary is new, but will consist of LOTS OF SHOUTING (and is almost certain to begin with "Hello, I'm Brian Blessed). The serial episode is nothing but filler.

It appears to come in a Walt Disney Treasures like tin.

Make some room for me, I'll bring Beauty and the Beast. I'll have to get a ride with an Arctic cousin down south, but I'll be there in no time (a week or two give or take a year).

Hey dethie, do you know if they (as in studios or Blu-ray disc Association) are going to have PAL and NTSC standards in Blu-ray Disc Video or a singular standard?

I think broadcast HDTV is coming in the two powerline frequencies' Hertz rates flavors, PAL's 50 Hz and NTSC's 60 Hz. Movies of course are shot in 24fps. (Except for the Todd-AO Oklahoma! and Around the World in 80 Days (Niven/Cantinflas version) which were shot in 30fps)

Since Blu-Ray is capable of supporting all the HDTV resolutions and even 1080 x 1920 progressive natively, i'm not sure if there's gonna be a single unified standard for a movie title's release and the player would handle any Hertz rate conversions in outputting it, since the films should be in 24p, or they are gonna do twin disc releases for PAL and NTSC countries one disc being 25p and another 24p respectively for the HDTV high resolution outputs

In any case the players should handle any rate conversions in their outputs if the disc came in diferent "flavors", specially in the outputs to connect to standart PAL and NTSC tvs. Hey, if my $50 four year old DVD player can do it...

I thought it was a region 1 dvd release!!!
