What Disney stuff do you collect?
Posted: Fri Mar 25, 2005 11:15 pm
by Evil Genie Jafar
... besides of DVDs
And why? There must be a reason for you to collect these particular things.
For me, just Jafar stuff. Mostly the plush toys, dolls and figures; so it's not much. Other than that, almost any stuff in which he appears. When I say almost I mean that I don't buy anything Jafar's in. Things have to be: big enough (no pins), worth it (no stickers) and quality (I've seen official figures that are badly painted or weird looking).
Why?
I think this character is GREAT. Extremely well defined personality, awesome animation and voice acting.
And a perfect villain: menacing yet funny, well dressed, has style and performs multiples transformations. Not to mention he has his own movie; altough we all know the quality (the point is that he was worth it).... And he appeared in Kingdom Hearts and was a guest star in one of Hercules' episodes.
PS
By the way, if anyone knows where I can get his genie form action figure, please send me a PM.

I collect two things:
Tigger and Maleficent.
I don't know
why I collect Tigger. I like visiting the Disney Store and see which new style they are using for their plushed toys.
I would like to actually jump start my Maleficent collection. I like Maleficent for the same reasons you like Jafar.

I have a Mattel doll of her (somewhere) and a little statue. Whenever I visit Disneyland, I have to resist the urge to purchase the BEAUTIFUL statues they sell for quite a price.

I also collect Mickey Mouse christmas things(like Mickey's Ski slope, clock shop, marching band). I cant even remember everything I have I collect to much stuff
Why?
I dont really collect a certain thing I just buy what I like. I collect the snowglobes and plates because they are nice looking and are great for displaying(if you have room, unlike me)

Unfortuantely, with a name like Disney, your paying for cool collectables.. So, I guess I'll stick with DVD's.. and any promotional items I can get with them.
My sister is a huge Tinkerbell fan.. she's got a fair decent amount of figurines.

Which ones? I have Aladdin, and I'm planning on buying The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast soundtracks! They have my favourite music from probably any film! After that I'll probably get Pocahontas and Tarzan...

I just started to collect soundtracks too and don't have much. Well barely anything but it's just starting...
I don't really collect anything else. I have Disney merchandise but nothing I would consider a collection besides DVDs. I would love to collect those Disney figure statuettes I have seen around but presently I spend enough as is.

Just the VHS's of certain animated classics. I just ordered Beauty and the Beast and The Great Mouse Detective, so they're FINALLY on their way... I do this so I can watch them, be blown away because it's always a while since I've seen them and I always gain a new appreciation for them upon every new viewing. And so I can watch them whenever I want to.
I'm sure a lot of you who collected the VHS's when you could have several of these same titles, but now I own the following movies: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Masterpiece Collection THX-certified), Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo (Masterpiece Collection), Bambi, The Three Caballeros (MpC), Fun and Fancy Free (MpC, THX, special making-of featurette), The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (MpC), Cinderella (without a box-slipcover), Alice in Wonderland (MpC), Peter Pan (MpC, THX, making-of featurette), Lady and the Tramp (MpC, THX), Sleeping Beauty (MpC, THX, making-of featurette), 101 Dalmatians, Sword in the Stone (MpC), The Jungle Book (MpC, THX, making-of featurette), The Aristocats (MpC), Robin Hood (MpC), The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (MpC), The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, The Black Cauldron (MpC), Oliver & Company (MpC- it finally came today!), The Little Mermaid (MpC, THX, stupid Jodi Benson music video), Aladdin, The Lion King (MpC), Pocahontas (MpC), and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (MpC).
I also would like to collect Disney songs. But I've yet to start.

Primarily I just get the DVDs, as it is the movies I am interesting in more than anything.
However, I will pick up stuff if I see it around, and I have been given a lot of Disney stuff as gifts. I buy little figurines from these vending machines every now and then, and I have been given gifts of mugs, plush toys, books and other trinkets.

I collect
Snowglobes
I like the snowglobes that feature several characters in a classic moment from the film. One of my favorite, though it's not my favorite film, is my Aristocats globe. It's the "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat" scene, with all the alley cats and instruments. They've done some pretty amazing work on 'em!
PVC Figurines
These are great desk decorations, especially if you need inspiration to create cool 'toons!
Soundtracks
Posters
I try to limit it to that, but sometimes I also by trading cards, comics, McDonald's toys, and anything else you can think of!
