I recently purchased The Great Mouse Detective @ Bestbuy and it didn't have the insert. Which leads me to two questions.

1. Did it come with an insert originally.
2. If yes, anybody know where I could order one? Or Worst case senario, could someone scan it for me and I'll print it out.

It is one of the many Disney DVD's - an insert. Others include The Rescuers, Atlantis: Milo's Return and Jungle Book 2.

A lot of DVDs do not come with the Chapter insert...

But I would like to purchase 'The Great Mouse Detective'. I saw it earlier today on Toon Disney... a lot of the movies disney made in the 1980s were "dark" (i.e. The Black Cauldron) in my opinion.

They didn't make them to save money. 'Disney- Always looking to make and save money.'

Save money? I think they allready charge WAY too much for some DVD's.. 25 bucks is an outrage.. I don't care what loving cherished company makes it.. no dvd should ever go over $20.00 unless it's a combination set like 2 or 3 different movies collected together or a box set of sorts.. but a single movie.. I have such a hard time buying Disney DVD's that are over 20 bucks..

I don't know why Disney US don't just change to the clear cases that they seem to use here, and in many other iternational territories.

That way, you just have a double-sided cover slip with the chapter listing on the inside cover. Cheap as!

It has been standard practice here for ages, but many of the DVDs I imoprt from the US come in black cases, making the insert necessary. I just don't get it.

I don't spend more than $25 on a DVD. On sets I'll pay more like the Lion King Movie Collection and the Aladdin II and III.

When the DVD first came out it was under $25 but stores jack up the price after a couple months of the DVD's release since no one's going to buy it now really except the people who really want it like you and will pay anything.

A majority of the Disney DVD's at BestBuy and Circuit City are between 22 and 24.99 .. too much for a single movie. Some are cheaper.. 14.99, 16.99 .. Sales and stuff are good.. but as a general practice.. 25 bucks is highly overpriced for a movie.. No matter who makes it.

now a 3 movie box set, yeah, I expect that to be higher.. 30-35 is reasonable.. anything higher and they are nuts.

I have a Question... why do DVD cases have the 2 clips on the inside if studios don't want to put inserts in them?

It's a use at your own discretion and annoy those who collect your movies option

Example 2: No velcro tabs on Bambi Slipcover! (Unless you call them, then you still have to wait a few days...)

I kind of like those clear covers. I only have one DVD that has one though... The Last Exile vol. 1... it's anime. I don't like the idea of using the other side of the cover for the chapter listing but I like it for artwork. On the DVD I mentioned the other side of the cover is clouds and it looks kinda nice.

That's the way DVD cases are manufactured. Go figure.
