Have anybody here seen the new Robots movie from Fox?

I was lucky enough to get some tickets to the celebrity premiere here in Norway. It does not have a ordinary premiere before next friday but today the Norwegian voice actors and some other Norwegian celebritys (and me and some friends since I got 9 tickets from the studio) got to see it a little in advance.

I tought it was realy cool and I was a litle supriced because I did not have any hopes for it. There has been large adverticing campagnes for several weeks already and those only tend to come when the movie are not that great.

It was made by the guy that made Ice Age (a terrific movie) and altough I did not belive this was that great I am sure that it will to well in cinemas.

I also think this is great news because then we soon will have 4 companies that makes good cartoons. Disney would therefore soon have to do something if they are not to loose sales. They are not alone anymore, there is also companies like DreamWorks, 20th Century Fox and soon to be independent - Pixar.

What do you guys (and girls) think about the movie?

I haven't seen it yet but I really want to. In half a month I'm moving into the city so I'll be able to see movies easier so I hope it'll still be playing at my favourite theatre.

I've heard it lacks emotion and the story isn't the best but the design looks wodnerful and it really looks entertaining.

but i think the CGI on robots is soo interesting and cool!

and plus, other critics said it was better than Finding Nemo and The Incredibles... So i'll have to see if what they say is true.

I haven't seen it either. I have, however, eaten the promotional cotton candy ice cream from Cold Stone and man... soooooo good. If the movie is half as good as the ice cream was, it'd still be delicious--er, very good, I mean. ^^;

And exactly who is this critic(s) who's saying it's more incredible than The Incredibles and whatnot?

it's on the Robots commercial with their bold word. "More Incredible that The Incredibles." <-- i remember seeing that one but i forgot what they said about Finding Nemo, but i heard it! I have good ears.

and someone please please please get the word out that this movie is not by Pixar.
dangit. the radio station just said that "Pixar's movies like Finding Nemo, Shrek, The Incredibles were good and Robots is great! I like the Pixar movies."

Everyone's just gonna associate CGI with Pixar.

I'd like to see it. Its opening weekend box office performance (an estimated $36 million) wasn't exactly a knockout by CGI film standards, but I wouldn't read too much into that in terms of the film industry at large.

I saw the movie. It was a so-so CGI movie. It was nothing compared to The Incredibles, but it was 10 times better than Shark Tale.

It was very good. I liked it a lot. Also looking forward to that Ice Age 2 preview I saw.

It was no Pixar movie, thats for sure. With that I mean that it was no Incredibles or Finding Nemo.

But it was much better then any animation made by Walt Disney Company the last 10 years.

The Ice Age 2 previw that we saw in Norway was only the chipmunk thing and his nut. That did not say much about the new movie

It's not out until mid 2006. I'm still looking forward to it. ANd just so you know it was a squirrel.

I really enjoyed it, good movie. The funky retro style provided some extreme eye candy, it was like a tin toy world run wild. It was a straight comedy like some other cg flicks, but ws a good comedic adventure.

Seeing the Star Wars trailer on the big screen was fantastic! The Ice Age 2 preview looked good and the Herbie remake actually looked really funny.

The character in Ice Age was Scrat, possibly a combination of a squirrel/rat.

Ice Age and robots was done by Blue Sky Animation, so technically its not 20th century Fox Animation.

It was really good, but I wouldn't say that it was better than anything Disney did for the last ten years. I try to take each film on its own merits and try not use one film to tear down others. Saying that its better than anything Disney has done since 1995 would include the following movies:

Pocahontas
Hunchback of Notre Dame
Hercules
Mulan
Tarzan
Dinosaur
Emperor's New Groove
Atlantis
Lilo & Stitch
Treasure Planet
Brother Bear
Home on the Range

I just saw Robots, which was okay I still like The Incredibles and The Lion King more, then Robots. Robin Williams was great and also I saw a trailer of Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. Okay film overall but it need to be funnier.

But Fox now fully owns Blue Sky Animation (just like Dreamworks now fully own PDI - heck, they've even renamed PDI to PDI/Dreamworks) so yes, it is technically 20th Century Fox.

I passed up the chance to see this last night so I could get in one more veiwing of the Incredibles on the big screen before the DVD comes out, LOL! Besides, you can't beat $1 for a movie ticket, right?

But I should get to see Robots later this week anyway since I'm helping out with a theatrical field trip for work (wow, I actually get paid to see it)! Of course, I'll have to be watching kids at the same time, so hopefully they won't get too wild with the popcorn throwing and what-not.

I'm not too excited about this film yet. I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved Ice Age, but I've been laughing about the number of celebrites they got to do voicework here. It's like, oh wow, CGI is cool now, so it feels like all the celebrities are really jumping the bandwagon. I'm not too keen on on them using the big names to advertize for it. And the design looks rather cluttered and had turned me off a bit, but with everyone commenting on how retro it feels, I'm sure I'll be able to warm up to it.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to it, and I hope I'll enjoy it. But I can hardly believe that critics were saying it was better than Nemo or Incredibles; those are hard to beat. I just wonder if the list of voice talent gave them starry eyes.

I saw Robots on Saturday. It was a good movie and I liked it a lot. Like others have said before me, The Incredibles was better. However, I will definitely be buying it when it comes out on DVD and it was definitely worth the price of a movie ticket.

I think it looks good, and seems kinda funny. Yeh i seen the comment on Nemo it said something like "The Best thing since Nemo" so its not really saying its better than Nemo....

At wal mart today I saw they had 2 packs of movies like catch that kid, sound of music, and cheaper by the dozen (2003) with a preview DVD of this film. Does any one have this? If so what is it like?

I saw it yesterday(yes fellow Mormon's, I broke the sabbath ). It was good, not as funny as I hoped but still cute and fun to look at. Robin Williams is always a riot, and Paul Giamatti as the Gateman was pretty funny with that creepy high voice. He gave me a Mr. Roger's Neighborhood nostalgia feeling. Overall I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars, it's probably a film I'll find more enjoyable on DVD (like The Pacifier).
