Basically any animated film that has yet to get a two-disc treatment.

Oh, and Perri. Not that it really counts, since it hasn't even been released on video in America. But getting a decent transfer of Perri on DVD would make my life complete.

I'm saying:
Pete's Dragon
Hercules
Little Mermaid

Just out of curiosity, does Peter Pan have a 2 disc edition or not? Cause I was listening to Jesse McCartney's 'Second Star To The Right' and then listened to the original version and that soundtrack needs restoring like BATB and Aladdin had. I have a hard time understanding what is being said in the song.

For Hercules..the character of Meg is soooo under-appriciated these days during the 'princess' fad. I mean, Hercules was made a God, so if he lived on olympus with the perks or not, he is still a god, which would make Megara a Godess, right? and isn't that like a Princess? I mean, come on, how many of the 'princesses' married a prince on screen or were an actual Princess? Not Belle, technically not Pocahontas or Mulan. Belle, you could argue, because of the final stained glass at the end of the movie she has a crown on.
But being the daughter of a Chief is a high rank, but not a Princess, really. And then Mulan? What is she? A Warrior Princess?

Pete's Dragon is a good disney movie that these days is also way under-appriciated. Most kid I have baby-sat for have never even heard of it, but when I put it on, they seemed to enjoy it. Besides, it has good music, and the soundtrack I think deserves to sound like the movie, and in great quality, like 'Candle On The Water'. Besides, it could have interviews with whoever of the cast is still around, and show how they made it, etc.

one more to add.....

I saw Luke's new icon and was reminded that I needed to add a dvd to my list, that is apparently getting a 10th anniversary edition. ( I hope)

Man Of The House (the one with JTT)

I saw that on tv a few weeks ago for the first time in years and it reminded me of the days of my JTT obsession. But, it was still a good and funny movie even after 10 years.

101 Dalmations and Lady and the Tramp are two of the 14 Disney titles to be Platinum so they will have a new release for sure :)

Pinocchio (gold edition is/was horrible)
Dumbo (hope for that SE coming soon, although the 60s anniversary edition isn´t that bad...)
The Rescuers (more extras please)
Black Cauldron (with new sound remix - see review of the film here on UD)

The Three Caballeros (I still love my old laserdisc edition with lots of extras)
Saludos Amigos (unedited - gold collection is horrible)
Make Mine Music ( ditto - this time unedited!!!)
Melody Time (unedited)
Fun & Fancy Free (more extras)
Ichabod & Mr. Toad (more extras)

all of those 40s compilation features did get a bad treatment concerning restauration/extras (except Reluctant Dragon/Victory Through Air Power on the TT), but I´ve to admit that I´m glad they released them on dvd at all...

In the real story of Hercules he isn't Deified until he dies (Thanks to his second wife, who accidently poisons him! Way to go :P  ). Also, it must be noted that he goes crazy while with Megara and ends up killing her and their daughter. This leads to the 12 labours which he must complete in redemption for this heinuous act. Sorry if I burst your little Disney bubble of the perfect Hercules, but he wasn't exactly the nice guy he is in Disney ;) I enjoyed the movie immensly, but the original myths surrounding him are much more interesting in my opinion (I'm a bit of a scholar on ancient myths)

In terms of Pocahontas, her position as Cheif's daughter could actually make her more powerful than the Cheif. It would depend on what nation of Natives she was a part of (Iroquois, Mohawk, Cree, Cherokee, etc). I'm not positive myself, so I'm not positive, but what I do know is that many of the Native nations had very matriarchal systems prior to the arrival of Europeans and women held a lot of power in their societies But this would depend. There is really no comparisson point between European power systems and Native ones, as they were so completely different once the Europeans arrived.

I'm rambling again, aren't I? You just managed to hit two subjects that are really my thing..... okay I'm getting too intellectual here. I now return you to your regularily scheduled discussion.....

I want to see every single Animated Classic get a 2-disc release (I don't care under which label)

I soooooo never knew that about Hercules. Wow. Thanks for the information. I like to believe that Disney is the way it happened, just so that I don't have to know the harsh 'realities' of how the stories were first told. And i'm glad, if I had know that as a kid, i'd be scared for life.
Pocahontas: She was the daughter of the Algonquin chief. (sp?) We studies a bit about her in my colonial America class last semester.

Hmmmmm.... I don't know much about the Algonquins I'm afraid. Mohawks, Nisga'a, Cree, and Inuit are really my areas of expertise. Sorry about that

now this is prolly just me wanting this, but do you think that they will release Cinderella II when the Platinum Edition is released? (like what they've done with Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, and Aladdin?) I hope that they do that for all the PE's with sequels! I hope so bc i'm building up a huge collection of all the disney theatrical releases and their sequels! Yes i am that crazy!
