Sure we have 14 great movies in the Platinum Collection but if you had a say in it, what other Disney animated classics do you feel should also be part of the Platinum Collection?

here are mine:

Pocahontas - the first disney movie based on historical characters and one of the most mature of the Disney movies.

Mulan - Shows Disney's versatility in tackling the timeless tales of other cultures.

Lilo and Stitch - The most unique of them all and shows a different side to Disney, shows the troubles of a broken family.

Dumbo - the only movie of Walt's first 5 to not get a platinum treatment.

If I had a choice of one it should be Pocahontas.

I think DUMBO should get on there.
Forget making a PE Sleeping Beauty, they should work on a PE Dumbo!

I think the Platinum line is pretty much complete as it is; with the additional four (or five, depending on what they do with Fantasia 2000) titles added, all of the big kahunas are in there, really. And as their current crop of SEs shows, the "Platinum" name means nothing anymore; they've turned out several DVDs under other labels that are at least close to, and sometimes superrior, to Platinum quality. Pocahontas, for example, seems to be getting one damn fine SE even if it is being called "10th Anniversary Edition" as opposed to "Platinum."

If, however, you wanted to add one or two more titles to the "Platinum" line, I would say Dumbo and/or The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. But, all the animated classics have or will recieve solid treatment, so, does the name really matter?

I reitterate the words of a great playwright: A rose by any other name would smell as sweet...

Of the original choices Dumbo is the only one for me.

But MickeyMousePal has one on his list I would love to have as a Platinum Edition and that's Robin Hood!

I don't think that I would add any more titles to the platinum line, as many non-platinum classics are getting special edition treatment, some of which are superior to the worshiped platinums (The Lion King and, to an extent, Bambi were no where near as good as the 2 Disc Sets of Pocahontas and Alice in Wonderland). So therefore, I'm going to state which Disney films I'd like to see as 2 Disc special editions! These films are Robin Hood, Dumbo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Bedknobs and Broomsticks! They should all have brilliant bonus features (not just fluffy music videos and games), Lowry digital remastered transfers and beautiful cover art!

this is kinda off topic..but all animated features deserves a lowry restoration for the heritage value and the legacy they carry for the disney studio. and for future generations to view over and over and over for hundreds of years.

Akhenaten, you are precisely right. Every single one of their movies (especially every single Animated classic) deserves a full restoration. As well, it is my belief that every single Animated Classic should be given a 2-disc treatment with good bonus features (whether it's through ME, PE, or SE, I don't care). All of these movies hold a special place in the Disney Pantheon, and should be treated as such

of the Walt era, Dumbo should be in the Platinum line. At least only if they are going to add more to the 14 (?) that are currently released or on the schedule. From the modern era, Tarzan and Lilo and Stitch are the two most succesful and would be great additions. The thing is, both already have excellent collector's editions....

So, I can only think of these three to be added. Keep in mind that titles that end up in the platinum line are supposed to be titles that the general audience knows of. I don't think they are that familair with Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone or The Rescuers. Unfortunately.

of the walt era, I´d like dumbo and the sword in the stone to be platinum... but i doubt that sword in the stone would be successful enough (in terms of sales figures) to get a platinum treatment.

If we were to start from the beginning, I'd add Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland to the Platinum collection (along with the new four, too, of course). To be really honest, I'd even go as far to replace 101 Dalmatians and Jungle Book with them, but that's not really fair considering those films' popularity. Now that Alice has gone SE, though, making it Platinum now would be redundant (though I'd definitely like to see Disney take another stab at it, which Jim Hill claims may happen). If Disney were to add two new films now to the list, I'd say go for Dumbo and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, like Jake suggested.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh would be really great, too. For a PE I would add all of the original versions of the "pooh"-animated featurettes (like "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree" etc.). Since Walt originally wanted it to be a full-length animated feature but later decided to produce the featurettes instead, that would be a perfect treatment of the winnie the pooh material

Here's what I want: Pinocchio, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, The Sword in the Stone, The Aristocats, Robin Hood, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, The Great Mouse Detective
plus the ones already on the list of course!
I like they should keep the movies released AFTER lion king in a separate collection but should get a simliar treatment as the platinums. i think platinum should be reserved for the more "classic" animated fetaures.

RJKD23 is right. Disney should stop their Sleeping Beauty P.E., when there already is a Platinum-standard "Special Edition" out!! Work on a different classic- Dumbo!!!

:thumb: I haven't heard any complaints about the Sleeping Beauty SE! I think it's great already..no need for PE. GIVE ME DUMBO PE! I'm not buying the movie until I see 2-Discs!
