Hello!

First of all, I would like to introduce myself, since it's the first time I'm writing here. My name is Fernando, I am brazilian and I am studying animation, here in Brazil. I simply love Disney DVDs, like you all.

Well, does anyone have seen the R2 "The Fox and the Hound" DVD ? I know that it has a featurette about the transition from the "Nine Old Men" to the younger animators, but I would like to know its running time and if it's interesting.

I haven't seen it, but I found a review of the feature from an Australian DVD (R4) site:

Featurette: Passing the Baton (6:24)
This interesting featurette examines how the film became a turning point in the history of Disney animation, as it was the final film for a number of important original animators from the studio. This featurette is presented at an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 soundtrack.

Just to add, I have the R4 copy....
and I believe it is identical to the R2 copy.
Most of the releases of that era are the same in both R2 & R4 (just for future reference ).

I'll watch it again when I get home and let you know if it is any good (I honestly can't remember watching it).

As for the "Passing the Batom" featurette, it's going to be on the Brazilian DVD of "Fox and the Hound" (release scheduled for next week!).

I wasn't sure if the brazilian DVD would include that featurette, but now i'm really looking forward to it!
By the way, does anyone know where the International DVD masters are produced? I am asking this because I found that sometimes, here in Brazil, we get the same DVD as in UK and sometimes a disc is identical to the US one. I don't know what is the reason that they choose one or other.
Exemplifying:
The brazilian 'Snow White and the seven dwarfs' disc has the 23-minute making of that it is encountered in the UK DVD, but for Treasure Planet, Disney hasn't cut the Visual Commentary as in UK.

Actually the UK Treasure Planet does have the visual commentary, for some bizzare reason Disney/BV UK decided not to promote it though.

I thought I'd ask this question hear rather than starting a new theard.

Is the Region 2 DVD really a pan and scan?, or is it just the fact that for one film between "The Rescuers" and "The Black Cauldron" that disney went back to fullframe animation aspect ratio?

Does anyone know?

Fox and the Hound was shot at 1:75.1. I don't think they made it fullscreen since early 80s widescreen was at its peek and fullscreen was dead decades ago lol i hope when the Special edition comes out they do put the Widescreen version on it!
