They're all Disney discs! Does that mean Disney do them particularly well or, as I'm more inclinded to think, most other studios don't see the point in them (being as on the whole they don't have a point?).

Some of those categories seem a little 'whacked' - especially Monsters, Inc. in best authoring for a faulty disc and best standard edition when it is a special edition is all but name (and even then it is a 'collectors edition').

They're probably refering to the "Family Edition" of Monsters Inc, which is the Pan and Scam single disc job.

That didn't come out in America. They only got the 2 disc version (which is how it should have been done over here in the UK ).

On what planet does this single-disc "Family" edition of Monsters, Inc. exist? Disc 1 had both versions of the film, with audio commentary and supplements - and then Disc 2 had a whole bundle of more supplements. More than Who Framed Roger Rabbit for that matter.

Maybe for them "Standard" simply means initial release, whereas Special Edition implies a re-release? No, that doesn't float, because 20K. Maybe Standard refers to new theatrical releases? Who knows?

Silly. But Monsters, Inc is a great set.

Actually look at this: talk about confusing the audience - Amazon need to do an "at a glance" guide to the different formats for Monsters, Inc. in the UK.

Add to this the fact that the 2 disc set was advertised nowhere, while the single disc release had national newspaper and television advertising and its no wonder the single disc edition sold around 4 times as many copies as the 2 disc set over here (Thus making Disney UK feel 2 disc sets are a waste of time).

yeah i remember seeing a Monsters Inc 1-disc DVD at Amazon. all it had was the 2 shorts (For the Birds & Mike's New Car), the outtakes, and the movie. it didnt had all the other special features on the region 1 DVD.

Best Game on a DVD.. I think disney is the only company in that company, because they're the only company that actually makes games!

Right, but aren't these awards for the Region 1 US DVDs?

What I don't get is with 16:9 sets as supposedly popular as they are in Europe, why would Disney release Pan & Scan-only DVDs of things like Sleeping Beauty and Monsters, Inc? Then again, widescreen is the more popular format of DVD purchasers here, and we still get P&S catalogue titles. Befuddling.

I'm not a big fan of these games on Disney DVDs, but some of them are quite entertaining. I'm surprised that the "West Wing" game from the "Beauty and the Beast" DVD wasn't nominated. I think it's the best game of the DVDs (at least they put some effort into it!).

That game drove me mad! The random turning to avoid the bowling balls. Ack! Okay, so maybe I wasn't the intended audience, but still.

At least it was detailed and somewhat fun.

Yes they're R1 awards, so the single disc Monsters, Inc. is irrelevent to the nominations. I just can't understand how anyone could class it as a "standard" release. It's bound to win as it is on an unlevel playing field.

Was it also buggy? I understand the movie itself would lock on some players and the 3D sound demo thing on the second disc (which incidently is fantastic - why don't they code a whole disc with that?) would also cause some players to crash.

And it's nominated for best authoring too?
