Today i got Chicago on DVD and to my surprise yay! a beautiful insert! woo hoo i guess they have hear our outcry. i wonder if they tittles that didnt get one should be left without it. i think Disney should make the inserts and send them to the buyers to make up for their stupidity! oh well at least they're back! also i'm kinda dissapointed in the amount of bonus material on the chicago DVD is shameful for a movie that was successful plus won best picture. anyone know if a Vista Series DVD is in the works?

I never really understood everybodys outrage over the lack of inserts.

Sure, they are nice, but in the end them are flimsy pieces of cardboard/glossy paper that you would not look at beyond once or twice.

As long as there is a chapter listing, shouldn't the content on the actual DVD be the important thing?

And if they are going to put inserts in, why do it in pieces of garbage like Chicago?

I suspect Chicago has an insert just like Frida did becuase of it's oscar performance - thus Buena Vista consider it a "Special" release.

I doubt other Miramax films this month will get any inserts. Not that it bothers me. I'm more bothered by the fact that Chicago got such a lame DVD for an Best Picture winner and I know for a fact Disney will release a "Collectors Edition" multi-disc set in the next 12 months.

Yeah, agree on the same terms as Netty, in the fact that since it is the 2002 bst picture, they realized it'd be a major fault if the lack of Inserts.

Also, the special features could definately be better, but oh well!

Right on, man. But unless a lack of inserts means lower prices for us, there's really no reason for them NOT to include them. I mean, it's far cheaper to mass-produce a disc or two than a videocassette - and I know extras cost money, but still $30 SRP is quite a bit for a movie...that should cover an insert. For the $9.99 SRP catalogue titles, at least I can understand not having the insert.

Like you say, it's not something I ever consult unless there's production notes, but still. The contents of the discs is what counts.

I tend to like my inserts as booklets...not pieces of cardboard.

The only DVD I ever bought that was just a single piece of cardboard/paper was the Alice in Wonderland GC (something I now regret buying now that there's going to be an Alice SE)

I think that there should just be a chapter listing in the DVD case - that's all I care about. If a booklet is too much money for a corporation like Disney (cough) can't they at least give us a piece of paper with chapter listings on it?
