Thinking back, what do you think would have happened if The Lion King was released in 2004, and Aladdin was released in 2003? Since Aladdin was rightfully supposed to be released then, I was wondering, would LK have been a much better release and Al just as bad as The Lion King's release?

Wull...first of all, no one's ever convinced me that the LK release was really that bad. I mean, really, what do y'all WANT that it doesn't have?? And Aladdin would be no better or worse if it came out a year earlier. They are what they are.

I had no problems with the menus, and never got lost once. Trailors, not that important in the end. Voice cast interviews, would've been nice but no big loss. Archive footage, about the only thing I kinda missed.

What was important? Amazing Audio, A Great Video Transfer, and the fact that it's on DVD!

I'd like to have the option to watch everything without overlap. I couldn't figure out how to do that with the extras on The Lion King DVD. So that's one reason why I'm happy to keep my laserdisc box set...

Well, the trick to exploring all of The Lion King's contents is simple. First, go through each journey completely, then head straight to the Glendale section of North America. Almost all of the non-journey features are in Glendale. The only ones that aren't are the multi-language reel and the featurette on the Disney Enhanced Home Theater mix (I forget where these two features are, though). Still, the overall layout of the menus is ridiculous, not to mention the fact that several features were dropped from the laserdisc (including more gallery stills, trailers, other little featurettes). Would the contents of both Aladdin and The Lion King have remained the same if they were switched? To be honest, I don't think so. I think Aladdin would've suffered from a complex menu system and promotional features while The Lion King would've been meatier and easier to navigate (remember, Aladdin came out in the EasyFind era of DisneyDVD, though it's possible this stemmed because of Lion King complaints). Personally, I find The Lion King to be a pretty great DVD content-wise. Not excellent at all, mind you, but still solid. Its faults lie in the abandoning of various laserdisc features and the pointless user interface. Since I'm much more of an Aladdin fan than Lion King fan, I'm satisfied with The Lion King's set, and pleased that Aladdin's turned out so well.

I actually enjoyed it, but I really wanted to see the theatrical trailers and some of the voice cast! I'm not picky when it comes to DVDs, but these features just stood out way too much to go by unnoticed!

Other than the features that I will never care to watch, I think the things I was most disappointed with on the Lion King disc were the re-animated scene and the disappearance of the Warthog Rhapsody animatic, which the cover claims is on the disc!
