I have a little problem with this... (Bambi and Lion King)

I have a problem with this. It sound very idiotic, but I CANNOT stand it when people say that Bambi is Lion King-like! Bambi was made decades before The Lion King! Even though they are alike in many ways, I just wish people would say The Lion King is Bambi-like. Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. What do you think?

it's nothing i've really noticed b4, but now that it's been brought up that would be the correct chronological order way of saying it. afterall, the lion king would have some roots form bambi, there are some similarities.

Bambi

The only thing the two films really have in common is that they both deal with the loss of a parent. That's the only comparison...other than that, they are two vastly different movies. I'm kind of bothered by those statements too. I think usually the way it works is this: Bambi is released and so the Disney publicity dept. compares it to "The Lion King" as to sell it better. Then five years later, "The Lion King" is re-released so they compare it to "Bambi." And back and forth, forever and ever.

they are compared because they are the only two with an all animal cast. for the record the lion king is my least favorite DISNEY film in general animated and live-action. its crude, cheesy, and overrated. it DO like it, but i cant says its love. bambi is highly supereor.

Dude, alot of people don't have a clue, they think "oh, Disney, all the same, cutesy animals singing" so they don't differentiate.

Oh, Gosh! I hate that! And I hate how some people see any kiddie movie, and automatically think that its a Disney movie, and they refer to it as just another Disney movie. But ive never really heard lion King referred to as the new Bambi or even related to it.

As stated before, the only similarity I see is how both princeslose a parent.

But, both princes have two friends... but even then their relationship isn't the same because Bambi/Flower/Thumper weren't natural predators.

That's all I see.

Well, there's a lot of similarities. The animals all gathering in the thicket/Pride Rock to welcome the birth of the new prince, the presence of the wise character Friend Owl/Rafiki, both lose their parents, both have two friends, we see each take their place in the "Circle of Life" by the end of the film. Both characters fall in love with childhood friends. Yes, there are a number of similarities, but I agree. The Lion King is like Bambi--not vice versa!!

I've updated your title to make it a little clearer what your topic's about.

I'm sure you loved the bit in my review comparing the two films. ;) Honestly, they have a lot in common: new prince born, animals gather around to see him, he's introduced to the world, loses a parent, grows up, falls in love, proves himself to be brave, has a baby. I wouldn't say that The Lion King is a rip off, as both films treat their subjects differently and story structure is only one element of their wide appeal. But the makers of The Lion King clearly had Bambi in mind when making their movie. (Hence the "Bambi in Africa" title that was commonly used.) Both films are tremendous too, in their own ways.

You know, I find it funny that the two are even compared. The circle of life is the theme for both, yet each feature is a whole different piece of work!

.....*thinks*
I see a few similaritys......

They're both princes (as some said), one of they're parents die when they're young, during aging faze, something dramatic happens and they all win in the end and get a girl.

See? A few!

Yes, BUT the feeling in each of the films is uniquely different! The Lion King strives to be an epic, while Bambi looks to be like a moving work of art...

Well on the Bambi DVD, the filmmakers do say that "The Lion King" was based upon "Bambi"! And originally the sold the concept as "Bambi in Africa"!
