Question for those with both the Atlantis and Dinosaur DVD

Which of the 2 Disk sets is better? I'm considering getting either of the two. Which would you choose and why? If you can, go into detail about features (most importantly the backstage ones).
Thanks alot in advance!

Well firstly, where are you getting the discs? The UK and probably all of the European Dinosaur sets are missing the two commentaries.
Personally, I think Atlantis is the best 2 disc set Disney has ever done. Plus, if you get the UK version, you get it in a shiney slipcover that opens like a shampoo bottle. What more do you need?
I will try to post more on Atlantis later tonight.

Hmm, I was already leaning towards the Atlantis DVD, but now that you've told me about the two missing commentaries it seems much easier to pick.
I'd like to read reviews any way. Just to get an idea of people's personal preferences! Thanks!

Right, well they are both fantastic sets. But I prefer Atlantis. Movie wise, both have had somewhat negative reviews, but I sort of like Atlantis (unlike most people). Dinosaur is very weak storywise, but does have some stunning visuals.
As for the supplements Atlantis has an excellent documentary, which can be played as one long feature of dipped in and out of. There are three navigation methods, including an explore mode, where you can explore the submarine to find the features. Atlantis also has a wonderful Mike Mignola art gallery (as well as heaps more) which, along with the analysis of Mignola's artisitic style, makes it worth the price of the disc. All in all, Atlantis is packed.
Another highlight of the disc is the fully animated alternative opening, with a viking ship under attack.
Atlantis has a commentary which branches to little featurettes at the appropriate time (like the Finding Nemo one), but unlike Finding Nemo, you can turn this off and just have the commentary.
Dinosaur is sort of more like Mulan and Tarzan. Lots of short featurettes you can select from the menus. But dealing with the subject of computer visuals on live action backgrounds, it is very informative. There's also a number of Walt Disney presented easter eggs to find.
I understand the UK release does not have the commentaries. However on the R1 disc these too feature optional brancing featurettes. I don't know how this is dealt with on the UK set. But I would imagine they are all still on there.

Thank you 2099net. Your review is very helpful. I too, am among the few who were impressed with Atlantis. I will be purchasing this one, without a doubt!

I only have a region 2 player so I've got the UK discs.
Atlantis does have an audio commentary and also a visual commentary (which contains the audio commentary plus links to behind the scenes footage)
Though avoid the single disc Atlantis like the plague because it is in pan and scan.
Dinosaur also has an Audio Commentary (though it's tucked away in the Bonus Materials menu under Special Audio Options) and a Visual Mode which links to behind the scenes footage whilst watching the film.
Though much like the Treasure Planet and Home On The Range commentaries there is no mention of this on the packaging. Its as if Disney don't want to sell any DVDs?
No idea what's on the single disc Dinosaur but the commentary is certainly on the 2 disc version.

OK. Now I am definitely confused. And this is regarding the UK R2 Dinosaur 2-disc set. Disc 1 in my box only has one commentary track. (Audio commentary by directors Eric Leighton, Ralph Zondag and Effects Supervisors Neil Krepala and Neil Eskuri describes it I guess). But it does have the film in three languages; english and two of those funny symbol languages. Could check with my other Disney DVDs but I'm guessing Hebrew (since they seem to all have Hebrew for some reason) and another one. There is no mention of three languages on the dvdcompare site. Mine also has the Orange Blue music video on it.

If you like that Disney feeling inside Atlantis is a great set! Every documentary is deep and not fluff. This set can never be beaten! and it even has the DTS track not found on the one discer!

Thanks for all the help guys! As it turns out, I don't need to choose one I prefer. I'll be getting Dinosaur in a week and a half!

I recieved Atlantis today (with the special slipcover!! Yay!), I'll be watching it in a few minutes! Thanks for all the help and getting me all hyped about the set!
