LA Times!
And theres more...I didn't see "Sinbad" and doubt I will anytime soon. I think you're right that the oft-repeated explanation for why movies like "Sinbad" fail - namely that the audience's taste has shifted away from classic animation to Pixar-style CGI animation - is total freaking nonsense. DreamWorks says that "Sinbad" will be the last traditionally drawn animation it makes - but why is the company blaming the technology? As anyone who's seen "Finding Nemo" knows audiences have flocked to that movie not because it was done completely on a computer but because it has a funny, lively story, developed characters and some wonderful performances. In other words, it's a great movie - just like such classically (cel) animated Disney features as "Pinocchio" (1940).
