When could a Wave 5 WD Treasure press release come?

I checked and saw that Luke posted the press release for Wave 4 Walt Disney Treasures in August of 2004. Except for the Wave 4 notes he had posted on the Upcoming DVD Schedule throughout last year, was this August post the earliest we got of any details?
I'm just eagerly anticipating further news of Wave 5, beyond the Schedule notes. Any ideas on when anything might be announced? I know, I know... it's still January -- just one month off of the latest batch.

We've gotten press releases in previous years in July for the Treasures series. Keep in mind that the press release is the official confirmation of what we'll be getting, but I wouldn't be surprised if we started hearing reliable rumors as to the next wave by May or June. Stay tuned!

Aren't they doing two releases this year? I would think we'd get some kind of press release soon if they're coming out in May.

Last year's May releases were delayed from the previous January. That is the only reason there were 2 waves in 2004. But there should and will only be one wave every year, usually the first Tuesday in December every year.
Are we there yet?

Haven't heard any news or rumors on wave 5 in some time.
What's the scoop?

So what's the hold-up with vol 2 of Silly Symphonies?

Gotta be at least two, maybe three more waves after this just to finish Donald Duck. We will see them yet.
So look for Donald Vol 3/Silly Symphonies 2006
Donald Vol 4/Pluto Vol 2 2007
Donald Vol 5/Miscellaneous characters 2008
I am just guessing at this point, but those are the volumes that need to come to complete the Golden age shorts. They might book end the silly symponies in the first and last set.
Somebody at the cartoon research forum went and calculated this a couple years ago, along with the Looney Tunes sets(it will take 17 4 disk sets to make Looney Tunes complete), and Warner Brothers already have the first eight sets mapped out.
Of course it helps to have Jerry Beck's input.
Hey kids - only six more posts until the insipid 2,000th post.

I think Leonard Maltin said in an interview late last year or early this year, shortly after Wave IV was released, that there were going to be 4 more waves, or at least he got the green light for four more waves. So your outline, at least of the animated titles, looks likely. At least I hope so!

Would there really need to be 4 or 5 waves of Donald? He has a lot, but I think they could cover it in 3 discs... maybe I'm wrong tho...

We're looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 Donald shorts that haven't been released on the Treasures line yet, which would suggest 3 more sets. A number of shorts were on the Front Lines collection which may or may not be repeated and some (like "Der Fuerher's Face") I would think wouldn't.

Mr. Toad cant post due to the double 2,000 post party schedules for sometime tommorow. (Why Luke allows me 2 user IDs I dont know)
There are more Donald Cartoons than Mickey Cartoons. I think mathematically they can do it in four, but there would not be a lot of extras.
Ooooh, doubled the post count. Not bad in 2+ years.

I know there's more Donald shorts than Mickey, but I wasn't counting the OFL shorts, since most of them were Donalds. Thanks.

Question: Are the Wave 4 and Wave 3 going to be extincted soon? Because I want to get some of the tins before they're gone.

Timon - they are no longer being produced. Only what is on store shelfs. Pick they up if you see them. I still see even the Mickey Color Vol 2 around occaisionally. So buy them if you see them at a good price.

Well it didn't say it was out of stock at Amazon so I can buy it there I hope. I even saw a Donald tin at Barns and Noble once.

Yep, I bet if I went to enough stores here I can find all seven. Pluto is the only one I can not recall seeing in the last month. The tins dont matter, I dont know if I even have all of mine after moving. The content is among the best things ever released on DVD.

If you have a Borders, check there, they have a ton at the one here. Also, you can get almost all of them from the DMC, even from waves 1 & 2. Only ones not available are Goofy, Silly Symphonies, and MMLC vol. 1.

I calculated once that they might be able to fit the remaining DD material into two more volumes (#2 and 3), but that depends on what will or won't be included. Three more volumes seems more likely. Four more volumes, as suggested in one post, would be too much, unless there are tremendous amounts of extra material to be included.

Tremendous amounts of bonus features on a Disney Treasure set
One of the funniest things I ever heard!
