I'm very happy with the nominations it got (including Screenplay  ), but as I said in the Off-Topic forum, I'm quite upset that it wasn't nominated for Score. I really don't understand why not, as it had some of the most memorable music of the year.

I'm surprised and disappointed it wasn't nominated for Score. I'm not surprised at all but still disappointed it wasn't nominated for Best Picture. Oh well, it will be the top dog at the kids' table anyway, I imagine.

Aw man, I thought the nomination for score would be a given, as it was excellent and was unique enough to stand out against anything else from the year. Oh well.

I'm also disappointed (but not at all surprised) that it did not get a best picture nomination; it really deserved it. Which is why I've always had mixed feelings about animated films having their own category. I mean, it's great that that they've gained a recognition of their own, but it's like the Oscars is Thanksgiving Day and animated films are automatically relegated to eating at the kiddie table. I fear that Beauty and the Beast will forever be the only animated film nominated for best picture.

Hmm. . . it's kinda sad that there isn't even a 2D film in the best animated picture category. :(

So. . . who here thinks the Incredibles has a chance against Shrek 2? It's obvious that the Incredibles is superior in every way, but it isn't as monetarily successful or as popular as Shrek 2. And we saw what happened with Monsters, Inc. vs. the original Shrek. I'm thinkin' that the Incredibles has a better chance of making it than Monsters, Inc. did. Not only is it a better film, it's up against a sequel.

But we'll see what happens.

I think eventually, we'll start seeing animated films get nominated for a Best Picture every once and a while. It's kind of like with Foreign Language Film - mostly, movies from other countries are just kept to that particular catagory, but every so often, one will be nominated for Best Picture. So I don't think Beauty and the Beast will be a one-time deal.

It's just ashame it couldn't happen in the case of The Incredibles. Oh well, its all politics anyway . . .

yeah it's politics... but fun anyway. I watch every year knowing my favourite in each category isnt going to win anyway. Ah well...

oh and what is the deal with Sharktale?? That movie... stinks. I would have preferred Polar Express, Spongebob or Home on the Range to be nominated. :(

Yeah, Home on the Range deserved the third slot, I think. While I found it average, at least it tried to be different than most other animated films out there, and was better reviewed than Sh*t Tale (I couldn't resist :P ).

Go LORENZO Go!! For the pride of 2D animation!!

I cannot believe that Shark Tale was nominated! There's no way that movie deserves a nomination. As for the Incredibles, that's great about 4 nominations. However, Finding Nemo got 4 nominations as well but only got the best animated award. I think that may be the same case here. But Shrek 2 might even bump it out from that award! Even though The Incredibles is much better quality in every aspect and deserves that award, people might lean toward Shrek 2 for it's humor...let's keep our fingers crossed...

Let's not forget that the Academy has overlooked the genius of Teacher's Pet.

Walt Disney Studios leads all studios with the most Oscar noms this year! How awesome is that!? Great news for The Incredibles too! I'm a bit disappointed by HP and The Passion not getting all that many noms, but that's slightly offset by the joy of Fahrenheit 9/11 not getting any.

yeah, Harry Potter only got two. I hope it at least wins those two. The musical score is wonderul and the special effects were weird but appropriate for the style of the film. It deserves some oscars!
