Beauty and the Beast is a great Disney classic. I started appreciating it more as a young adult, in my younger years I always thought it was a "girlie movie". Perhaps it might have more appeal to women, but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie which oly they can appreciate. There will always be something in B&TB that appeals the general audience. The animation is beautiful, songs are catchy and memorable, and the story never gets old. I really like Alan Menke' score in this one, and is my favorite one of all his works. All the elements are here that make a great classic, and this "tale as old as time" will remain a great achievment in the decades to come. This is up there with my other three favorite animated movies.

i never really loved this movie as a kid... i was okay with it but no more.... so it wasnt one of those disney movies that i saw over and over and knew by heart like the most... i pretty much forgot about it... then about a year ago i saw the broadway version... fell in love with it gr8 music etc etc... i thought wow i gotta c the movie i bet i just ddnt appreciate as a kid... turned out- the movie was even more boring then i rememberd and the music was a lot better in the play.
oh well... i guess maybe i shoudve seen the movie again first before i saw the play so id get the real impression of the movie without having to compare, but i guess now we'll never know.

Greatest musical of all time IMO, top 5 best Disney. Robbed of an oscar.
Its one of those rare movies where everything works, everysong is magnificent, animation is great, immortal characters, timeless themes and story.
its one for the ages.

Well, considering that this was the movie that made me love Disney, I'd say I have a very deep respect and love for this movie.

I asked my dad to buy me this movie when I was in the 3rd grade and he accidentally bought me one of those generic
Beauty and the Beast tapes (i.e., not the Disney one which I wanted dammit!).
That said, I haven't seen this movie as many times as I've seen, say,
Snow White or
Aladdin, but the first time I actually recall watching it was at my sister and her then-boyfriend-soon-to-be-husband's house when I was 11(?) and the last time was my friend's PE DVD a month or so ago (I've probably only seen this film 3 times in my life).
I still consider this film to be one of Disney's best. (: Wonderful music, warm characters, the wonderful Belle, and Beast (rawr). What more could you ask for?

Next to Aladdin, this is my second favorite Disney movie of all time.

This was the first DVD actually bought from Disney (I don't have Snow White because I want a slip cover! and I managed to get a real, new copy of Snow White from EBAY). I've always watched this movie on video

when I was younger and I was always entertained with the songs, animation, and story line!
I hate Gaston.

Cogsworth and Lumier always made me laugh the most!

Chip was the cutest!
But I always found it magical how someone as beautiful as Belle looked beyond the outer appearance and fell in love with the Beast-turned-handsome Prince!
Overall, this movie is wonderful!

I definitely do not get tired of watching it again and again and again...

I like it a LOT because it is a straight, easy to watch movie.
What I like the most is that it is a GREAT movie, that reaches for a sensible vibe and it does so without having to be TOO emotional as The Lion King or The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I think it's just perfect! A real masterpiece indeed!
The Story, the Charactheres, the Songs, the Score...
Everything fits perfectly!
And is the only Animated movie that have ever been nominated for a best movie Oscar! That is a great honor!

I couldn't agree more!!! While it's not my favourite one (Little Mermaid holds up only a bit more, for nostalgic reasons), this is one of those films that is practically perfect in every way! The humor isn't forced, the music fits the tone perfectly and there's a wonderful atmosphere throughout. I can't say anything bad about this film. Belle is also one of the sweetest and most beautful heriones I've ever encountered in a film.
A perfect 10 from me.

This might open up a huge can of worms here, but i'm curious to hear your opinions on this question.
In the movie, we see Belle looking at the portrait of the Best as a human, and she's staying in a castle, which has servents (as enchanted objects), so my question is:
Do you think Belle knew that the Beast was a Prince? Obviously, she knew he was human, the portrait gave that away.
What do you think?

I have never seen it. Is there a logical explanation for the talking housewares? Were they in the original story. I live the bizarre Alice in Wonderland, but some things don't belong in a story like Beauty and the Beast.

Watch the movie and find out. You'll never know until you do. It's a good movie.

Beauty and the Beast is by a million miles my favourite film of all time, as I'm sure it will always be. I'm completely obsessed with the romance and beauty of it. It has everything a great adult romance should have, but is completely kid-friendly. And the musical score has got to be one of the greatest in cinematic history. I never could forgive The Silence of the Lambs for blatantly stealing this movie's well-deserved Oscar for Best Picture.

One of the greats of Disney's golden era. The animation and scenery were top notch! A beautiful movie to behold. There wasn't really much humor to it to be honest. Nothing today's batch of kids would care to see (it's all gotta be Shrek funny now).
And once again, the Beast looks way better than his human version. Thank you.
So, this entire movie was set in France right? Just double checking.

It's a shame that the kids think like that!
That is the cause of the new dark period of Disney... is that kind of humor that is killing the fairytales and also the Disney great movies!
Really a shame...

Beauty & the Beast is no doubt in my top five. Not only is it a favorite of mine,My mom and so does my aunt love it. My mom loves it so much that one of her favorite Disney characters is Belle(partly becuase I look so much like her and we have a lot in common.)
It's denfinetly the best of the Fantasic 4 (others being Little Mermaid, Aladdin, And the Lion King.) BATB is the kind of flim that's stays with you forever no matter where you came from what you been through.
