Well, this post is mostly the title.
I know there are more discusions about this topic, but these are old and now full of replies.

This is my most highly anticipated DVD of 2005.
Although I'm also looking forward for Bambi and Pocahontas.

Do any of you have got any new information about this release?
When is the press release expected?
Any info will be good!!!

I'd also like to know which of the covers we got months ago is going to be the final one.

I can hardly wait!

Press Release probably be expected in June or July.
As for the final artwork and maybe art disc as well.
Cinderella is going to be release on Tuesday October 4th, 2005. :D
But right now it's to early to tell since we still have six months for Cinderella to come out on DVD.

Anyone has the flyers that were given given in the Aladdin DVD with the covers of "Bambi" and "Cinderella" on it? Someone posted it here when Aladdin was released but now I can't find it :(

As for the Cinderella DVD, I can't wait! It's long been one of my favorite Disney classics. I think it's a superb film. Although as much as I like it, "The Little Mermaid" is hands down my most anticipated DVD!

I'm very excited for Cinderella, much more than Bambi. I heard the press release is expected around the time they release Bambi. well in relation to how long the bambi PR came out as the dvd release of aladdin, that could give you a guess of how long it takes after a dvd release.
here's the cover art that was on the aladdin flyer, although the colours somewhat differ in real life. i think it's a well chosen cover, but it seems like too much of a blown-up image of the masterpiece vhs cover. it's still nice for platinum, as much as my hopes were for something that ressembled more the classic 1988 video release :( oh well im satisfied with this :)

oh and here's the bambi ad that was on the same flyer. i expect by the time bambi is released, we may have a better look at the cinderella art as well as the spring 2006 dvd. we'll be luck to see art for the little mermaid asap but if it follows the same tradition, there will be a preview in a cinderella dvd flyer? :roll:

there has been a confirmed art for bambi and the topic has been discussed in the late pages of the press release thread.

Thanks a bunch :D

Loving the Cinderella cover! As for Bambi, I guess it doesn't matter anymore since there's already a confirmed cover.

I'm positive we'll see the Cinderella cover change at least twice before we actually get it. Disney always uses VHS clipart as place-holders for the characters while an artist works on the final version. I expect we'll see a press release (and teaser trailer) for the DVD in March when Bambi comes out. Just for reference, here's what the laserdisc had (I've posted this several times before, but it doesn't hurt to post it again now that we have an official pre-press release Cinderella thread):

* History
* 1922 Laugh-O-Grams: "Cinderella"
* 1933 Silly Symphony Version
* 1940 Story Concept

* Storyboards and Story Development
--Sequence Breakdown- Seq. 1.2 - Starting the Day
--Abandoned Sequences
---The Music Lesson
---Cinderella Work Song
---Dancing on a Cloud

* Influence of World War II

* Return to the Classics

* Music Demos
-- "Cinderella"
-- "I'm in the Middle of a Muddle"
-- "I Lost My Heart at the Ball"
-- "The Mouse Song"
-- "Sing A Little, Dream A Little"
-- "Dancing on a Cloud"
-- "The Dress My Mother Wore"
-- "The Face I See in the Night"

* Voice Talent

* Live-Action Reference Footage
-- Test Footage
-- Mickey Mouse Club Helene Stanley Clip

* Art Design, Layouts, and Backgrounds
-- Character Design
--- Cinderella
--- Lady Tremaine
--- Anastasia and Drizella
--- Fairy Godmother
--- Prince Charming
--- King
--- Duke
--- Lucifer
--- Mice
--- Major
--- Bruno
--- Miscellaneous Animals
--- Music Teacher (deleted character)
-- Preliminary Design Concepts
-- Layouts and Backgrounds

* Animation

* Production Photo Gallery

* Radio Excerpts
-- "Village Store"
-- "Gulf Oil Presents"
-- "Scouting the Stars"

* Publicity
-- Trailers
-- 20 Radio Spots (1950 and 1957)
-- Posters, Lobby Cards, and 1950 Pressbook
-- Merchandising
-- 1950 Sunday Color Comic Strip

Just add a commentary track, make the galleries virtual (I'm still holding out hope for it to come back), and some sort of featurette on the film's affect on Disney's theme parks, and you've got what could possibly be the best Disney Platinum, topping even Snow White.

I'm very excited for Cinderella too! :) That tentative art is nice, although it will be changed (of course) by October.

Actually I'm pretty scared to see the cover art for "The Little Mermaid". I so hope they'll work out a cover as good as the 1990 video release. Just let it not be similar to the 1998 release. It SUCKED.

A word of advice, Disneykid; don't post these kind of things as it seems a bad omen. I can just imagine the DVD makers decide not to include all the laserdisc material and replace it with a virtual party inside the pumpkin stagecoach. :huh:

Eek, I hope I haven't cursed the DVD, now... :shock: Actually, I'm pretty confident that Disney will port over at least most of the features from the LD because they were very faithful in doing so with the other Walt princess films (Snow White and Sleeping Beauty). And no matter what I say or do, I don't think there's any stopping the inevitable virtual pumpkin coach ride...

that's so true... there's nothing we can do to stop this dvd from being filled with games and activities... sigh

I guess I'll be having to skirt around the cruddy fat, then. Well, as long as they fill disc 2 up with enough prime meat from the LD release, I'll be a happy camper. :>

Geez, I hope that's not the final artwork.
Not only is it jumbled, the prince looks like a lesbian cross dresser.
That and Cinderella does not look like Cinderella.

I sincerely hope they fix this soon.

Couldn't agree with you more! :) I love their classic art and I think a restoration with fresh, lush graphics and colour would be absolutely perfect! I wonder if they'll change the "castle" :wink: And I really like the Original title style too! :D

OR, try to fit the glass slipper and marry a prince! Because that's what it's ALL about :)
