Hey, you know the "Prologue" at the beginning of the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack, where the guy is telling the fairy tale story about the prince, and the enchantress, etc...
I know this is a long shot, but is there an instrumental version of this song anywhere (without the talking over it)? I love the music, but I don't want to hear the talking all the time. Anybody?

I know they include this on the recent soundtrack. I don't remember if there is an instrumental version only, but there are instrumental only tracks and demo tracks. The best thing you can do, I guess is play the track in a CD player where you could turn off the voice track and play it kareoke.

I have the soundtrack, and I know what you mean. It is a nice little piece. The same trill theme is repeated throughout the movie. You can probably find the same type thing on the disc if neccessary. I don't think they release it as you would like.

Snowbot, altho I don't know if this would be exactly what you'd want, you could also try this and might even like it and you already have it!
Take your Beauty And The Beast DVD, and turn off the center channel.
If your dvd player (or receiver) doesn't let you do this, you can disconect (temporarily) the cable to your center speaker to hear it w/o the narration.

(make note which one is the positive and negative on the cable end leads. In case they are not marked, put red and black tape on each lead and on the receiver or speaker terminals before unplugging so you can put it back exactly the same after. And turn off the equipment before connecting and disconnecting as a precaution

) I'm listening to it without the narration as I type.
(it'll still have the thunder and birds

) (you might hear a little faint whispering during it)
you might want to listen to other songs that way for a strange experience

or try it without the surrounds too

ahh the glories of multichannel
If your dvd player lets you turn it off in its controls (mine does) or you have multichannel analog phono outs you could even record it to a cassette.
If you need any more info on that let me know.
Happy listening!

Oh yeah, I really appreciate your advice on that, deathie mouse. I haven't tried your experiment yet, but it sounds like fun. Although, I don't think I'll need to do it for this song anymore, because someone over at magicmusic.net advised me that the instrumental version of the "prologue" is available on the "music behind the magic" box set. Thanks though!
