Pooh movies

I was looking at the upcoming releases and it says that "Winnie the Pooh - Springtime with Roo" coming out next year. I've noticed that most of these "new" releases are just a bunch of episodes for the "New Ad." TV series.

Are any of the Pooh movies (besides "Pooh's Grand Adventure", "Tigger Movie", and "Piglet's Big Movie") completely original or are they all TV episodes? I'm trying to decide if there is any reason to buy them or wait (hopelessly?) for Disney to release the complete TV series on DVD.

Would you mind listing which dvd's are exclusively compiled of episodes from the television series because I might be interested in purchasing some...

Btw, This is the 90's tv series you're talking about right??

"Springtime with Roo" is all new - created as a DTV by ToonDisney Studios! [*]

R1 Pooh Releases that seem to be mainly segments from The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh are "Very Merry Pooh Year" and "Spookable Pooh/Frankenpooh".

R2 Europe and R4 Australia (both PAL format) are getting New Adventures compliations under the branding of "The Magical World Of Winnie The Pooh" - but for some reason both R2 and R4 miss out on volume II!

The only full-length feature Pooh films are:
1. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
2. Pooh's Grand Adventure-the Search for Christopher Robin
3. The Tigger Movie
4. Piglet's Big Movie

The other videos/movies are not the "official films" and the majority of them (Seasons of Giving, Frankepooh, Spookable Pooh, Boo to You Too, A Valentine for You, Un-Valentine's Day) are either new footage, or composed of episodes from the early 1990's TV series, "The New Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh". "Springtime with Roo" is supposedly all-new footage.

However, there are a number of new videos, and the feature "Stories from the Heart" that are episodes of the new Playhouse Disney TV series, "The Book of Pooh", not to be confused with the 1980's TV series, "Pooh Corner".

Does that set it straight?

I have noting new to add, but being a Pooh-related thread I felt the need to chime in.

POOH ROCKS! :pink:

Does "A Very Merry Pooh Year" include the special "Winnie The Pooh And Christmas, Too!" ?

It does.
The first story on the DVD is that one.
Having not seen it in any other form, however, I can't tell you if it is complete. The opening and closing credits (if any) are obviously not present (as this is a 'movie' made from shorts). It does seem like the whole thing though, and is a lot of fun.
I really like that disc, although it is a little short at 61 minutes.

There needs to be a cheaper way for me to get all these Pooh DVDs. There seems to be a new one every few weeks and all I've got are:

The Tigger Movie
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

The Christmas one sounds like it'd be the next to pick up, but I'm interested in seeing Piglet's Big Movie.

Thanks for all your help guys! I cannot wait for Pooh's Grand Adventure to come to DVD (my favorite). I still have to pick up the original... doubt if I will for awhile.

Yeah, they do seem to be coming out thick and fast at the moment (I already have those I can pick up locally (Many Adventures of WTP; Magical World of WTP Volume 1: One for All, All for One; Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search of Christopher Robin; WTP: A Very Merry Pooh Year; The Tigger Movie), but there are sooooo many forthcoming:

US
Frankenpooh/Spookable Pooh (Aug 26)

Australia (September 17):
Magical World of WTP - It's Playtime With Pooh
It's Your Birthday Party with Winnie the Pooh
Magical World of WTP - Great Day Of Discovery

UK (they are getting the two Magical World ones above as Volumes 3 & 4 in September, as well as):
Magical World Of Winnie The Pooh: Spookable Fun (Oct 6)
Magical World Of Winnie The Pooh: Seasons Of Giving (Nov 17)

And that doesn't even cover the Book of Pooh stuff, which doesn't appeal to me (power to 2D Pooh!).

Surely when there are clumps of releases like in the UK/Australia, they should box them as well at a slightly cheaper price.

Oh, and Luke - I think the Xmas is highly worth it. Even though it runs an hour, it is a lot of fun, especially the New Years story where all the characters seem to adopt the traits of the others. Funny and cute.

Yeah, I'd like to pick it up in time for this year's holidays. And if they ever released Seasons of Giving on DVD, I'd want to get that one too.

Thanks for the info.

I have the Pooh's Grand Adventure VHS, and though I haven't watched it in YEARS, I remember it being pretty sad for a Pooh movie. I've yet to see The Tigger Movie, and I would rent it, except there are so many other things I'd like to see, new and old. I might one day just buy it, but I don't know if I should do a blind buy on another Pooh movie; look what happened with Pooh's Grand Adventure.

Pooh on you Sulley! I loved the Grand Adventure! It was definitly my favorite Pooh movie. Tigger Movie was okay, but I thought it was really weak. What's weird is I watched Muppets from Space the same day and the plots were just about the SAME. Piglet's Big Movie looked good, but I was kind of worried about the "kidnapping" part - can anyone shed some light on this?

Sulley, just send me your VHS, I'll be happy with it until the DVD!
