Just thought I'd mention that yesterday, I saw the Lion King Trilogy DVD set on shelves at a store...I thought it wasn't supposed to be released till this Tuesday? Either way, I didn't buy it cuz I already own the movies in the set, and they don't come with the slipcases in the box set.

Yes and it's been released here in Finland some time ago. The box looks very nice but I think I won't buy it simply for its pacaging. All those 3 films are in my shelves already. Hope there'd be some place to buy only those boxes alone

i was going to post about this yesterday, but i wasn't sure if it was Topic worthy, i guess it is.
i saw it on sale at The Wherehouse Music in the mall yesterday, i was so confused because i know my DVDs very well, and i was 100% sure it went on sale Dec 7th, and when i saw it on sale yesterday, i was confused and as soon as i got home i had to double check the release date.
i already own all 3 Lion King DVDs, so i was going to call disney tomorrow and ask if i could order just the Trilogy Box Set slipcase, does anyone know if it is possible? i would really like just the Trilogy slipcase.

Just on a side note but, Is it actualy possible to get Disney to grab things from the Vault if you pay them enougth? Say I want to get Goof Troop, can I get them to grap the episodes whack them on a crude DVD and mail it?

I totally agree with what's is said here. The Trilogy box set is not supposed to be on sale until Tuesday Dec. 7th. And I would say that if you don't have either of the three, this might be a good buy. I just don't understand what they are trying to do. Marketing people must have been asleep. This would have been prefect when they put "Lion King 2 Sima's Pride" out on DVD, they should have then offered the Trilogy. Best Buy was offering $10 off if you bought LK2 and either of the other ones at that time. This will make a great Christmas gift for the person who doesn't have the complete collection of the Lion King movies.

I would fall under this, I suppose.

I don't have any of the three
Lion King movies on DVD and think I'll be picking up this trilogy pack... as a Christmas present for myself.

no they do not come with individual slipcases, the wherehouse music had it on sale early, and i saw it and it did not have individual slipcase, and if you were to order them seperatly, they would not fit in the box-set.
if you do order them, don't tell Disney you have the Trilogy set, they only replace damaged or missing slipcase, and since the box set doesn't come with it, they will not replace.
now if you own all 3 lion king and want the box set, don't tell disney you have them individually, say your box set was damaged and want it replaced. i am not sure if they will charge you for replaceing the trilogy box set.

for those who saw the trilogy box, which would you prefer, the individual slipcase or the box itself?

I prefer the individual slipcovers. It would really be great if the box set had each dvd in a slipcover as well.

even though i would like to have the Trilogy Box-set, i don't like it that much compared to the U.K. version, that box-set is just the best, i would do whatever to get it. but the individual slipcases are great also and add a special quality to it to the DVD (i think), make it seem more of a Special Edition. if you buy the Box-Set, call disney and say you bought them Individually and so that way they can replace it for all 3 films. i quess it would be up to you, it is on sale offcially now, but all 3 films and the box-set go OOP at the end of December, so don't wait if you don't own any of The Lion King DVD.
here is the Region 1 Box-Set (U.S. Canada)
here is the Region 2 Box-Set

The R2 box looks awesome... wish we were getting that more mature-looking one instead of the one we will be getting in the States.

So the box set is just all three movies being sold together? There is nothing additional you get from the box set?

no additional matterial, but if you were to buy them them seperatly it would come out to the same price, so you won't be paying extra money.
if some how i was able to get the Region 2 box-set, the only problem would be that what we call Lion King 1 1/2, Region 2 is called Lion King 3 and that is printed on the cover and i don't like that. but if i could get it, i wouldn't care if it said Lionb King 3, i just want it.
