I can't blieve the biggest and most successful movie of all time has not yet been released on a better DVD treatment. No news to be found anywhere so I'm a bit confused.

Anyone knows something or has any predictions on its release?

The Titanic "Deluxe Edition" (4-Discs) has apparently been reduced to a 3-Disc set  Rather disapppointing news, check out the cover art:

I think "The Digital Bits" (the site that vowed their secret information assured that Back to the Future and Star Wars were coming every year since 1997) said "maybe" in "2005." So, not really any news, but Paramount's started to do re-releases ( :o ), so it's possible, but there'd be nothing to cross-promote with it, since Cameron won't make a sequel! :x

The article Luke's referring to is this one: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html#1104

They mention that its supposedly going to be a 4-Disc set for Summer 2005, and to be handled by 20th Century Fox instead of Paramount (a relief to me - Par would've probably released it just like they did for The Ten Commandments SE, which wasn't necissarily bad, but far from what it could have been).

A sequel to Titanic? Years of search and they finally find the heart of the ocean. but little do they know that Jack and Rose have come back from the dead to take revenge on those who took the jewel necklace and return it to the titanic!

That would probably alot more entertaining that the first one. It would be kinda like Ghost Ship.

I read somewhere that it was supposed to come out in 2004. Apparently that didn't happen. I've been holding out on buying the regular version, but I might get it if the Special Edition dosn't come out soon.

I hope a special edition comes out soon. My dog ate my Titanic DVD and I'm holding off on replacing it because with my luck, a month after I repurchase they will come out with a "better" version of the DVD.

I'm hoping for a release that falls somewhere between The Abyss: Special Edition and Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition DVDs in terms of quality and quantity of bonus material. I'm guessing that December 2005 is the earliest that the Titanic SE will hit stores.

I'm impatiently waiting for a collector's edition of the DVD as well. I really think Leo peaked in this movie as far as looks. He wasn't as girlish as he was in Romeo & Juliet but still youthful. Lately (post-aviator) he has been getting fat and looking like a middle aged man.

As popular as this movie is, it's very surprising it hasn't gotten a special editon before now. I think I'm gonna hold off buying mine until I hear about the special edition, cause I did that with the Princess Bride, bought the regular DVD then the Special Editon came out not too long after

Finally, a Special Edition of Titanic will be announced this Tuesday by James Cameron on a press event at Beverly Hills. This should be great news for fans of the movie or justthe sinking of the ship(like me:D).

Note: ( I created a Titanic thread similar like this one asking for any news of the DVD but couldn't find it. So if you're ab;e to find, please go ahead and merge the threads.)

I think I'm gonna puke if I ever have to watch that movie again. Try and the Band Played On if you want a good titanic movie.
