Does anyone know if either of these short featurettes are available on video and whether they might appear on any upcoming Disney treasury or as a bonus on any DVD release? I was somewhat dissapointed that these weren't included in the Complete Goofy Treasure set...

To my knowledge, they are not on any video releases. Hopefully they will turn up on a Treasures set, along with the educational Donald's. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The one thing that I liked about Math in 6th grade was that we watched Donald in Mathmagic Land on the last day of school.

They are both availible on german videocassettes

How To Ride A Horse should have also been there. But those lucky enough to own The Reluctant Dragon, already have it.

Yeah but that doesnt bother me as much since I own all the Treasure sets to date.

the Treasures BEHIND THE SCENES set, which includes the feature THE RELUCTANT DRAGON, is still available at Amazon.com

I don't think it's right that they expect you to own all the treasures sets, to get all the cartoons, or even all their DVD's. I saw a picture from "Goddess of the Spring" on the Silly Symphonies set, but the cartoon, which was on the Snow White DVD, was not there. Also, if it is a Goofy cartoon, it should be on the Goofy set. If they also want to include it on another set fine, but it should not be on a foreign set, that they expect you to own, if you own the Goofy set. Does this make sense? Anyone that is just my thought on the subject. The Behind the scenes is something I might want to get my hands on in the future but it is not a priority of mine, like the Mickey and Donald are...

But in essence, it's not an official Goofy short considering it was not theatrically released with a Goofy title card which happens to be the main factor in it not being included.

These Treasure sets are a means of releasing classic cartoons, television episodes, features and specials in their original context, unedited and in their entirety which is why the short "How To Ride A Horse" is included as a part of The Reluctant Dragon feature in Disneyland USA and not The Complete Goofy.

Also without strict critera it will be almost impossible to release charcter sets. What would be on the complete Goofy? His apperences in shorts with Mickey and Donald? "Lonesome Ghosts" for example? How about his apparence in "Mickey and the Beanstalk" part of "Fun and Fancy Free" or his segment of Saludos Amigos"? What about stuff like the Disneyland "Goofy Success Story" (which is on the "A Goofy Movie" disc).

The only way Disney can release these shorts with any consistancy is to release them via title cards.

(That said, I see "the Practical Pig" was included on the Silly Symphonies set despite not being a Silly Symphony officially - it is (the only?) Three Little Pigs title card cartoon. Still, they included it as an Easter Egg, perhaps for this reason).

2099net: Any cartoon with the trio (Mickey, Donald, and Goofy) was probably labeled as a Mickey cartoon and they would be on the Mickey Mouse sets. Donald and Goofy sets would have Donald and Goofy solo cartoons.

you know, maybe one of the next Disney Treasures set could be one with the all the TV show specials in the 50s and 60s which had shorts from Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. ex: On Vacation with Mickey and Friends.

I would really love that but it would never happen since many of these specials are compilations of older shorts with linking animated segments so much of the content would be rehashed material from the character Treasures. It would be nice to see On Vacation and Kids Is Kids, etc in their original format again, digitally restored...

I use to have so many of the "Here's-----" set. Ofcoarse many of the tapes were lost and such over the years, but I still had many, quite a few, up until a few months ago, when my mom got rid of them. Not sure, but this may have been my fault, as I may have given permission, due to the fact that I am now aquiring the treasures sets, but I miss the way, the cartoons linked to each other and, all. It added a kind of depth to the story telling, so it wasn't just short after short... Ahhh well, still better to have a bunch of cartoons on one dvd set, then a couple of cartoon spread about a bunch of tapes...

Yeah, but the old videos are still nice to have-to look back and remember. I know VHS is dead, but some day they could be worth $$$. I only have one compilation of shorts (Love Tales) but I have a lot of the themed videos (like Monster Bash, Happy Holidays with Goofy and Darkwing Duck) and I love them-it's all we have left of those old TV shows.

Donald in Mathmagic Land and Ben & Me are currently scheduled to be on an assorted treasures set due in December of 2004. Nothing on Freeway Phobia, howver. A lot can change between now and then but that is the current plan.

Also planned for next year is Mickey in B&W 2, the first episodes of the Mickey Mouse Club and the Complete Pluto Collection
