Okay, I got this from animated news:
There is a possibility of a special tenth anniversary DVD of Toy Story being released next year, but talks between Disney and Pixar on the subject are in the very initial stages. The company will unveil the first couple of its self-financed films, hopefully within the next year.

Anyway, seems pretty cool, I was too late on the Ultimate Toy Box, so I have a barebones 1-disc version of Toy Story.. and Toy Story 2 as well. So I hope this will be released next year. Your thoughts?

Well the Toy Story DVDs went out of print in 2003, so even with the lesser moratorium period of 5 years, this would be 3 years too early.

I missed out on the Ultimate Toy Box, and my Toy Story DVD is a bootleg I was ripped off on from eBay. Therefore, this would be great news, providing the release was of the same calibur as the Ultimate Toy Box. I guess we'd only get the first movie, though, and not the sequel or bonus disc. I wonder if the Anniversary Edition would be a 2-Disc set (with slip-cover?). I hope so! At any rate, this is reason enough to hold off on eBaying the Ultimate Toy Box, at least for the time being.

Aaron, I think it will be a 2disc edition. Most Special Masterpiece Platinum Anniversary Editions are 2 discs these days...

I'm kind of skeptical, since it seems like a shorter-than-usual moratorium period, as Luke said. I would like a 2-Disc set though, perhaps using material from the Toy Box. I only have the crappy 2-Pack of both films, so I'd jump on any re-release.

Those who want "Ultimate Toy Box" edition of Toy Story should check with the smaller reatail stores in your area. I found an Ultimate Toy Box for $39 at Circuit City about four months ago.......and then last night my wife came home and told me she found one at a local Pawn Shop for $14, she is going to go get it today. All you need to do is look around, they are out there. Used DVD stores abound with them.......and as said before Pawn Shope have them also.
Just a thought for those collectors who don't want to wait or don't wan't to pay eBay prices.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney re-releases "Toy Story" next year, considering that the studio's release windows have become shorter and shorter. See "Peter Pan", "Mulan", "A Bug's Life" and "Tarzan" (which looks like it's going to be re-released next year) as examples.
Well, that would be great news for me as well, since I've also missed the Ultimate Toy Box and only have the Brazilian 1-disc editions for both movies.

I have been holding off from the Toy Story 3 disc set due to the still high SRP of £39.99, so it would indeed be good news if there was a new edition coming! I still only own Toy Story on VHS!

Well, I have been wondering if this would happen. And I JUST purchased the Ultimate Toy Box on half.com. If the special anniversary is just a re-release of the Toy Box I'll be kind of mad I spent the extra money, when if I waited a year I'd get it cheaper. However, if it is a 2-disc of just Toy Story, that would be cool! If it's just a rumor, then oh, well.
Cool, animated-news also said The Incredibles should be out on DVD next spring!

I'm kind of surprised that it could come out this early, but I don't doubt it at all. In fact, <i>Nemo</i>, <i>Bug's Life</i>, and <i>Monsters, Inc.</i> are scheduled to get temporary price reductions next spring. Possible tie-in?

I would lobve it to be re-released. I also missed out on the ultimate toy box. I would be great to have a re-release.

just this week i called a local Movie Rental place that sells DVDs as well, and they still have 2 copies left of Toy Story and one copy left of Toy Story 2, they are both priced at $29.99, i went during the week to check them out (had no money then) and they have the Buena Vista stamp on the back so i know they are not previously viewed, i might head down there today and buy them. they didn't have the special 3-disc box set, but just as good. she told me they have been siting there on the selves since last year.
they also had one copy of Snow White for $39.99.
even if it is re-released again next year, i still want this version. took me months to find these copies here, so i am buying them.

I hope this rumor is true. I bought the stupid 2-pack version earlier this year and have been regretful ever since. But the Ultimate Toy Box is nowhere to be seen now....
I should have bought it when I had the chance, 2 years ago.....
PS: By the way, this is my 500th post, and that makes me a Super Genius!!

It's been ten years already? I feel so old. A new release is welcome, but I hope it doesn't blow away the Ultimate Toy Box since I hate upgrading.

But it's strange that no where else in the world has a moratorium at all. Disney's Platinum and Limited Issue discs have the same moratorium rules, but Pixar's Toy Story films don't.
In fact box sets are common -
Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2, A Bugs Life and Monsters Inc Boxset (UK)
Pixar Fun Package (TS1 TS2, ABL, MI) (Germany)
Twin Pack: TS2 and MI (France)
etc.
I don't really see why the Toy Story films have a moratorium at all in the US. It obviously doesn't match Disney's and/or Pixar's worldwide view of the franchise. So I suppose a new release isn't that far out of the question.
The real question is what would be on it. They could simply include the supplements about TS1 on the third disc of the triple pack on the second disc.

why is Toy Story 1&2 the only Disney/Pixar films OOP?, A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo are all still for sale with no mention of them going OOP print soon. A Bug's Life has been on sale on DVD since 1999,
was it an Expieriment by Disney to see Poeple's reaction to them not selling Toy Story. if the rumor is True, it is probably because people were pissed at the idea 5 years in Moratorium.

Not true. A Bug's Life was OOP for a while before they re-released the exact same set but with two extra features and a price decrease (and a slipcover). Monsters and Nemo haven't been in stores long enough to be taken off the shelf yet (even though Monsters, Inc. has been on DVD for over two years now...)

I hope this is true. I never got around to buying the Ultimate version. I do have the 2 movies though.
