Wondered if anyone else noticed this: the latest edition of the Disney Catalog features the new DVD of Mary Poppins...and underneath appears fine print text which reads "Art subject to change." I certainly hope so - a film this special, and a release this special, deserves better, IMHO.

We did notice it and discussed it briefly in the big Press Release thread. Nice to see you again, Candleshoe. It's been so long! And it's a shame that Angela Lansbury is no longer showing up next to your posts. (Well, you're on pace to hit 50 by the end of the decade at least, I'd think. ;))

Anyway, most people seem to think that like the "First Time on DVD" banner on Aladdin, this is just something that will appear in images Disney sends to retailers and not on the actual product. Could be, could not be. I'll let you know in a few weeks when I get it.

Hmmm

Yes the Mary Poppins cover art,has been one of the biggest and most talked about subjects on Ultimate Disney. Their have been a lot of changes. I like the way it appears right now on www.amazon.com, hope it stays that way. It is just like when the 1950 Classic Father Of The Bride came out on DVD In June of this year. They had a cover art that was advertised, and they even made a few of them. And then quicker than anything that was pulled off the shelf and they replaced it with this pitiful creation.

i couldn't find the press release thread, but I thought this could fit here.

Poppins, I guess, will be getting a price reduction in MARCH!!!! that's right, according to some disney sites, the new special edition is scheduled for a price reduction just 3 months after its release.

However, I cannot wait that long, as I'm sure most of you can't either, but I thought i'd pass on the news.

I think it's actually neat when they use the original movie poster. It's very retro.

I think the Poppins cover looks all right. It looks more special editiony than the bare bones release, I guess.

That bare bones release is not quite bare; in fact, it's got more in the bonus features than all but a handful of live action titles.

Still, I think this new DVD may be better. ;)
