Happy 58th Anniversary Song Of The South!
Released November 12th, 1946
Fun Facts
- Because of its unrealistic depiction of the post-Civil War "Reconstruction" era, this film has been quietly retired by the Walt Disney Company in the USA since 1986 (40th Anniversary re-release).
- This reconstruction-era costume drama was the very first film produced by Walt Disney to employ professional actors.
- James Baskett initially auditioned for a small voice part in the film. He not only got the part of Br'er Fox, but also Uncle Remus, making him the first live-action actor to be hired by Disney.
- The working title for "Song of the South" was "Uncle Remus".
- Most of the outdoor live action scenes were filmed in Phoenix, Arizona.
- All but five minutes of Song of the South contains music.
- This film has never been released on video or DVD in the USA.

Happy 58th Anniversary Song Of The South!
I feel so sad because I haven't seen this film yet.
The big question is when will "Song of the South" going to be out on DVD.
I know that I'm not the only one who hasn't seen this film yet.
Millions haven't watch this film and I want to see it already.
Note to Disney take it out now!!!

Hmmm...
2006 will bring:
-Einster's retirement
-SOTS's 60th anniversary
-the possible 2-Disc Special Edition we've been salivating for since 1997
Anyone notice a pattern?
