I'm confused, so forgive me for asking, but is this the same as the SE's that will be released as Region 1 discs in '05?

Yes, they should be exactly the same as the 2005 R1 ones with the exceptions of cover art and audio options (other regions tend to have more languages available).

Anyhow, very very cool news! I'll be anxiously awaiting your reviews! Are those just the basic specs listed on the covers because I remember Pocahontas and Lilo having a lot more things listed for their editions from the BBFC (lots of multiple featurettes and such).

Hey, Loomis can you put a scan pictures of Pocahontas and Lilo & Stitch DVD.

I'm just wondering because I want to see the artwork.

G-d, I hope it is done that way here in the States!

How's the animation in the "If I never knew you" scene? Can you see the difference between the original animation and the added animation? Anyway, this seems like a very promising release!

Wow, that's great! I'm particularly glad to see a humungous documentary for Lilo & Stitch - the last time Disney had something like that was in 2001 for the Atlantis CE.

Awesome news, thanks for posting, Loomis! Hoping Region 1 will get these ASAP.

These are basic "back of the box" specs, as I don't really have time this morning to go thorugh them. I thought you guys would want to know at any rate.

I've now updated the above list with specifics on the Pocahontas disc.

I think the Lilo 'making of' is a big plus by itself - a 125 minute doco with 21 chapter stops on its own disc.

As for scanning disc art, does that hurt the discs at all? Otherwise, I'm more than happy to post tonight

I was wondering that myself. Shouldn't Pocahontas have more in it?

It seems Loomis has answered both of our questions, Paul, the same time you posted yours. I have no idea if scanning DVD's harms them in anyway. I don't see how it can, but I'm not really the best judge for this. Loomis: The Pocahontas list is still the same. Don't take that as nagging or anything because if the BBFC listing is any indiction, I know exactly what's on it, but I just thought I'd point out that your original post didn't get edited. Unless, of course, you're editing it as I'm typing this in which case carry on. ;)

Sounds pretty cool. I've stayed away from the current DVD release of Pocahontas because I heard the transfer was REALLY bad. But since this is an SE the transfer should be better. The last time I heard "If I Never Knew You" Was during a behind the scenes speical when Pocahontas was shown on television. Can't wait for Lilo & Stitch SE. Anything to dump the DVD I already own.

I was in fact editing as you were typing and it is all there now :)

I hate when this happens.

Awsome features and IMO mediocre movies, which means I'll end up buyin, grrrr  .

IMO Stich shoved the family theam down our throats a bit too obviously. "Ohana means family" grrrrrrr

sorry guys

looking forward to the dvds and especialy the 125 min making of, lets hope Dumbo gets this kind of treatment "if only"

I don't think scanning them would hurt them if youre careful not to scratch them. If you can't simply put a white paper or cardboard on top of them, and you have to close the lid to activate the scanner, maybe you could put some soft separating paper or tissue/thin cloth. or put some coins under the border of the lid to raise it simulating magazine thickness so the lid doesn't touch the discs clear surface. The other thing would be the intense gamma radiation emited by the fluorescent tube on the scanner that could melt a human or turn him green if in close contact. Just kidding on that :P At most the fluorescent tube only emits a little UV (plus light :P) for the the brief time the scan head travels. I don't think that'll be lethal to a DVD. just like letting them lie on a table under fluorescent lighting which is always emiting a little UV.

I think.

and.. what's the bad news?

btw I always check International, specially yours, netty's and joe's posts :P

does it says anything about being masterpiece or is only 2 disc special ed?

I think overseas they are smart enough not to have a plethora of special names for DVDs. Though Pocahontas and Lilo and Stitch were originally advertised as Masterpiece with Alice, so I'm guessing here in America they will be Masterpiece. Don't they just call all of them Special Edition in Mexico?

Thanks for the specs, Loomis! :) I'm looking forward to the Pocahontas DVD and now I'm glad I didn't jump for the Gold Collection. It seems like there are A LOT more stuff than the Alice DVD had. Let me rephrase that, A LOT more worthwhile stuff and not fluff. Though me and my friends, for some stranage reason, did watch the WHOLE virtual tea party and laughed the whole time.

Also, Jane should be happy with the SE 2-disc Lilo and Stitch! :D

Yes, as Kram pointed out, the Australian market doesn't really "label" things the same way the US has/does. These fall under the "Walt Disney Collection" which is signified by Yellow bar near the top, as you can see from the DVD art I've posted below (sort of like the Gold Collection, but these never stopped).

I will try and do some scans tonight.

By popular demand...these will probably differ from the Region 1 editions, but you asked for it!

Ok, here is the art for Disc 1 of Pocahontas.
