From Variety:
In search of tweens
HOLLYWOOD -- Disney Channel is hooking up with the creators of its biggest franchises -- "Lizzie McGuire" and "That's So Raven" -- to produce more series for its core tween audience.
Cabler has teamed with "Lizzie" creator-exec producers Terri Minsky and Stan Rogow for a half-hour "Lizzie" spinoff dubbed "Stevie Sanchez." Series follows the ups and downs of Lizzie's best friend's sister, Stephanie "Stevie" Sanchez, and her Latino family.
Project reps the first TV offshoot of "Lizzie," which halted production in December 2002 soon after which series star Hilary Duff deemed it so yesterday. While the skein still does solid ratings in repeats, "Stevie" would give Disney a fresh dose of "Lizzie"-related programming.
"Stevie" will focus on the 12-year-old character, first introduced in "Lizzie" via her older sister Miranda (played by Lalaine), who often feels like an outsider in her own family. Stevie's internal thoughts will be articulated by an animated alter ego.

hah. this, folks, shows you how smart disney is. THey realize it's still drawing an audience, so hey -- why not. the magic formula worked once, twice, why not three times?

Interesting. I wonder why Miranda wasn't given a spin-off show. Why a sister that we've never seen or heard of? It just bothers me that they have the animated version of the main character.
Anyhow, it's a latino version of Lizzie so it has a big audience. It also can be the girl version of the Brothers Garcia which was more like a latino version of the Wonder Years.

Bah, another manufactured star we'll have to endure 2-3 years from now (or if Disney is really impatient, 2-3 months from now).
I think it's really a slap in the face to say this "spin-off" is about Miranda's little sister...as we've never seen her, and throughout the entire series, I (and I'm sure many others) were under the impression that Miranda was an only child. They should've given Miranda a series instead, as Lalaine is a far better actress than the Duff.

I think instead of making this retarded tv show about Mirandas series, they should start making Lizzie McGuire again I loved that show it was totally cool. Lizzie/Gordo/Miranda, and Lizzie's annoying little brother Matt. Were really awesome. They need to start making that show again instead of making a new show on Mirandas little sister.

But Hilary Duff doesn't want to do the show anymore. Would you rather have someone else be playing Lizzie? Maybe you can talk HD into re-starting the show, Crhis! U Huh U Huh U Huh!

why does it have to be on Miranda's younger sister? cant they just make an original Hispanic character with no Lizzie McGuire connections?

I think this is stupid also but I want to tell you that Miranda probably wouldn't work either. I think the actress is 17 or 18 probably like Hilary Duff so she'd be in college almost so that's too far ahead of the target audience.

Yeah I remember that to I wonder how they are even going to try and connect this ?
Anways I have mixed feelings about the spin off I think its kind of sad. And it more than likely wont live up to what people would want and had from the orignal Lizzie McGuire. I dont know I guess I'll check it out and see. (And as for Hilary Duff and not wanting to do the show from somone who is supposebly so nice and humble she sure has forgotten rather quickly the roots of her popularity. And if she were really trying to steeer away from the Lizze image she would not pick som man movie roles that revloe around the same character)
Okay so I am done venting I feel better now

I've known about this for along time. I read somewhere that Lalaine will be in it, but not as a regular charcter. She'll be a guest. I cant wait! I love Disney Channel!

Oh boy, I'm very worried about this. I mean, a carbon-copy of Lizzie (just a latino version)? What's the point? And if Lalaine is not going to be a main character, how are they going to explain why Miranda isn't in her own house most of the time? And why are they making an animated version of this character? I've never heard a more un-original idea in my life. And we all know that the main actress will soon after starring in this, become a pop singer. Well, I'll probably watch it anyway.

"Tudgman Loves Miranda".
