Arafat is a terrorist and murderer

I know this isn't a political forum, but it ticks me off everytime I turn on the T.V. and see the press portray Arafat as some poor soul clinging to life and cover the story like he is some saint on his death-bed.

This guy is one of the worst terrorist leader in modern history. Order the death of Olympic athletes at 1972 Olympics in Munich. Order murders on the Saudi embassy in the Sudan.

USA today quote from 2002 - "A leader of the largest Palestinian terrorist group spearheading suicide bombings and other attacks against Israel says he is following the orders of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat."

Someone needs to get on the T.V. and say "Good Riddins! I hope you get yours!"

This kind of things should not be discussed here I think
Not all of your words are correct you know.
And remember that NO country or it´s leaders are completly "saints" and I think noone tries to state that either.
Please, get all information correctly before you accuse someone.
That´s all and I propably will have my head chopped off for saying it 8)

ummm...this could either be a very interesting conversation or could get real ugly real quick.

I think part of the "attraction" of thsi story is of the implications of him passing on. It would leave a tremendous power void and inevitably lead to quite a struggle for assumed leadership, IMO.

On top of everything else I think it will lead to even more attacks against the Israelis when they refuse to allow him to be buried in Jerusalem.

Same good be said about George Bush really: Mass murderer, religious fundamentalist and he has WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. Yet he is VOTED for. Go figure.

(And so does Israel: religious state, have their own share of terrorist and WMDs).

Why is that any different?

Besides, Arafat is a special case: nobody seems to like him, not even the Palestinians. Even so, I wouldn't want to wish harm on anybody. Nobody is a saint, but that was a little rough, msadrakula.

"Riddins"? Dude... You really should take your meds more regularly.

Kansas, huh? Is that part of Jesusland below?:

WWJD? Why, he would love his enemies and turn the other cheek, that's what he would do! Now, go back into your wheat field and don't come out until you are ready to actually live by HIS word instead of some stupid, radical right-wing dogma that has NOTHING to do with Jesus.

Wow, manifest destiny in reverse. As a Canadian, I am totally in favour of taking over California, way better surfing than we have.

On a more serious note, Chernabog is right. Is Arafat resposible for hundreds of deaths? Yes but so are Sharon, Bush, Hussein and probabaly any other leader. Pride is the worst of all sins, and unfortunately it seems in order to rise to a position of power you need to have it in spades.

It would be nice to find the leader who is brave enough to turn the other cheek and find the road to peace.

Take it from somebody living in the Middle East......they're all as bad as each other!

I heard an interesting comment somewhere a while ago (I can't remember where)....that basically said.....where else but in Palestine would you see people partying in the street because one of their suicide bombers had just murdered 50 women and children!

I don't take sides. At the end of the day they all have to meet their maker and it's him they have to explain their actions to. I'd like to be a fly on the wall when some of the big guns get to the pearly gates tho....George W and Saddam for two. Lets see them wriggle out of that one!

That reminds me of a quote from Dick Tracy:

Dick Tracy: Whose side are you on?
(Madonna's character): The same side I'm always on, my side.

This is exactly how I feel about the whole situation with my limited knowledge. The rest of the world should just back off and let them sort it out themselves. Both sides have murdered their share of people and both sides deserve the wrath of the other side. Everyone is involved is being stupid. Share the damn land already...shouldn't they have learned to share when they were like four?!? Meanwhile they are screwing up the rest of the world cause everyone else is all pissy about it. It's all stupid.

Don't think its just the Middle East. Look at the UK and Northern Ireland. Look at Spain and Eta. Look at Yugoslavia. Such disputes happen all over the world. And having land taken off you quite recently by "International" agreement is more likely to stir up more resentment then centuries of British or Spanish rule.

America and the rest of the world, can't really back off, because it is America and the rest of the world who sanctioned the creation of Isreal. It is up to "us" to see a peaceful resolution.

*gasp!* They interrupted CSI?!?! How dare they!!

Really, JM. I think Arafat's death (and subsequent chaos in Palestine as several different groups, and individuals, vie for control) is a wee bit more important than freakin' CSI. e_e

Um... no one gives a **** about Arafat. Why do you think the topic's called 'Arafat is a terrorist and murderer'? Besides, CSI owns all(except Disney and DreamWorks). ;)

Ummm.... how about you re-read my post? I never said we should mourn the guy, JM. But geopolitically - yes, it's a tad more important of an issue than a freakin' TV show. >_<

A couple of quotes from the New American Bible:

"Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you" Matthew Chapter 7, verses 1-2

"But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Luke Chapter 6, verses 27-28.

Now that Yassir Arafat has passed away, let us pray for the Palestinians and for the Israelis that peace may come to the Middle East. And let us not be so quick to judge-unless we wish to be judged.

I heard on the news Arafat had about 900 million euros.... how the heck is that possible? His freaking people are starving. God, I hate world leaders, they piss me off :x
