I have a multi-regional DVD player, but for some strange reason, the film gets played in black and white. Is this related to my TV or are Toshiba con-men/women?

Do you know if your DVD player is Pal or NTSC, and are the discs Pal or NTSC?
Even if you have a multi-regional player, you might not be able to play Pal on an NTSC player, or vice versa, or you might need to change a setting on your player.

Could be your television, I bought a multi-region in the summer and my region 1 DVD's played black and white. This is because my TV only played PAL signals and not NTSC too. You need to buy a TV that does both.
(Its a good thing the DVD player broke so I could return it

The problem is in the television, because it only read (or are programed to read only) PAL, and region 1 discs are NTSC.
Here with me the same happens, But in the contrary, my tv is NTSC and i have a pal disc that only play in black and white.
Using an videocomponent cable, it get color, but get some real anoying flases on the screen, may be if you use an component cable, it will solve your problem.

If your multi player doesnt have a PAL output setting (and your TV is PAL only) you could buy/exchage it for a multiregion player that does the NTSC to PAL conversion, (maybe that's cheaper than buying a new TV).
Mine cost US $50
(the disc is not in SECAM, by any chance, isn't it? That would be rare, but that would play in b/w too if the TV doesn't have a SECAM decoder)
