I was looking on the Channel 4 website, and I noticed they're doing a 100 greatest cartoon countdown. There's some Disney titles in there, and the ones which aren't there can be given an honourable mention.

Sis, you have a comic book of this guy that you got the first time we went to Canada. It's the mystersolver dude with the two dogs.

Wasn't this a famous novel about a Socialist society?

14. Belleville Rendezvous

French for Triplets of Belleville. It was a very popular animated feature in France last year. I think it won some kind of award.

The Britsh Claymation show that also made CHicken Run!

One of the most infuential of all Japanese Anime

7. Animal Farm

The 1950's cartoon version of George Orwell's classic book. A British film.

11. Battle of the Planets

Pure perfection! An Americanised version of a long running Japanese anime.

14. Belleville Rendezvous

UK name for the Triplets of Belleville (US and French name)

16. Bod

UK pre-school animated series.

18. Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels

A Hanna-Barbera series. Sort of a cross between Batman, The Flintstones, Charlies Angels and Scooby Doo (The villain was always a man in a mask)

19. Captain Kremmen

An animated Kenny Everett! Wonderful! (Kenny Everett was a UK DJ and comedian)

20. Captain Pugwash

Only one of the best animated series of all time on the BBC. Started in the 1950's!

22. Charley Says...

Public information films in the UK. A cat called Charley would tell people about the dangers of going off with strangers, crossing the road and walking on ice etc.

36. Fritz the Cat

Adult animated movie, with sexual content.

46. Ivor the Engine

An Oliver Postgate series. Oliver Postgate made lots of wonderful animated series for the BBC in the 1970's.

48. Jamie and the Magic Torch

Surreal, perhaps LSD inspired cartoon series for children.

52. Legend of the Overfiend

Japanese anime

56. Magic Roundabout

UK series based on a French programme. No translation was done, the episodes were simply watched and a new story written for the English.

57. Mary, Mungo and Midge

UK Pre-school series, similar to Bod.

60. Monkey Dust

UK late night animated series. Basically lots of quick fire sketches in an animated form. People rave about it, I think it is so-so.

63. Noggin the Nog

Another Oliver Postgate film. Fondly remembered as the villain is called Nogbad the Bad.

71. Princess Mononoke

This is a Studio Ghibli film (the people who made Spirited Away). Perhaps more adult and violent than most Ghibli fare.

72. Queer Duck

No idea.

76. Roobarb

UK series about a green dog who is always belittled and mocked by a purple cat.

84. The Snowman

"We're walking on the air." Christmas time favourite, based on the Raymond Briggs book.

93. Wacky Races

Hanna-Barbera series. Original series for Penelope Pitstop, The Ant Hill Mob and Dick Dastardly and Mutley.

94. Wait Till Your Father Gets Home

A Hanna-Barbera sit-com, it was just animated.

95. Wallace and Gromit

Claymation animation about an absent minded inventor and his dog. Has trouble with penguins and robot dogs. Made by the people who made "Chicken Run" and a Wallace and Gromit film is coming from Dreamworks soon.

96. Watership Down

UK film about a community of Rabbits moving to a new home when their warren is destroyed. Based on a best selling book.

98. Willo The Wisp

Hard to explain. UK series voiced entirely by Kenneth Williams. Featured a witch who happened to be a TV set called Evil Edna.

105. 2DTV

UK animated satire series. Makes fun of famous people and politics with inpersonations and animated cartoons.

in the uk channel 4 are doing there usual top 100... and now its cartoons disney is on about 75% of the list and we must vote!

Now I am confused. Features films and cartoons are totally different. Was this list for animated feature films or cartoons? If it was feature films then we also have to separate 2-D animation from the new CGI animated films. And if it includes all animation maybe we should separate the USA made films from the Japanese-made films and so on.

I got all excited about this post because I have some favorite cartoons, most of them are Disney, but there are a few that are Warner Bros.

My list is pretty extensive so I won't go in to all but here are just a few of the titles that never fail to rock my world of 'toons:

"The Lonesome Ghosts" - Mickey, Donald and Goofy
"Mickey's Circus"
"Three for Breakfast" - Donald Duck and Chip 'n' Dale
"Dog-gone" - Pluto and Mickey Mouse
"Dragon-Around" - Chip 'n' Dale
"Pluto's Christmas Tree" - Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip 'n' Dale
"Trailer Horn" - Donald and Chip 'n' Dale
"Mickey's Vacation" - Mickey, Donald and Goofy
"Goofy's Glider"
"Goofy and Wilbur"
"Motor Mania" - Goofy
"Wild West Mickey" - Mickey and Peg-Leg Pete and Minnie Mouse
"Bone Trouble" - Pluto

Those are just some of the 'toons that I really like. I have over 60 hours of Disney cartoons on VHS and DVD. I can't wait for the Chip and Dale cartoons to start coming out. They are my favs. I have collected a whole lot of "Rescue Rangers" and have copied them to DVD+RW.

I will not list any of the Warner Bros. cartoons that I like so much.
