Has anyone ever wondered about this?

In Beauty and the Beast, all the servants in the castle become furniture and inanimate objects. You'll see how many inanimate things move around, most in the castle. When the servants change back into people, wouldn't there not be a lot of furniture left?

I've often thought about this. But the moving objects couldn't have all been servants (think about the amount of dancing china and silverware in Be Our Guest!) so perhaps some of them really were just pieces of furniture or cutlery, just enchanted.

So the Prince is punished by being turned into a beast, having his staff turned into objects. Then, thinking that she's probably been a bit harsh, the fairy enchants all the inanimate objects so at least the Prince will have entertainment during his enforced punishment.

I really have issues with the whole "curse" in Beauty and the Beast. People who complain about plot holes in other movies, really need to try and wrap their heads around the logic of this punishment. There is none.

Yeah, basically. I remember having this BATB comic book, that was non-canon I think, and took place before the movie. There were several stories in them, but one was about Beast and his music box. Music Box (as revealed in the commentary or documentary or something, I know it was mentioned on the DVD), was supposed to be a minor character, but he was eventually replaced with Chip. Anyways, the story was that Beast would listen to Music Box every night, just play sad dreary music. One day, the objects decided to try and make Beast happy, so they tried to teach him how to dance, how to read poetry, etc. Frustrated, Beast couldn't do any of it anymore (forgot I guess), and he slammed his fist on Music Box, by accident, and Music Box was no more. Chip then asked his mother if Music Box was a real person, and Mrs. Potts explained that he was Beast's favorite toy as a child, and was brought to life during the curse.

I shudder to think what servant turned into a toilet...or if a toilet became alive...

Actually, it might not be that all the objects were people. Perhaps the curse just effected whatever furniture was already there. On the other hand, there sure are a lot of people in the ballroom at the end - perhaps they are the re-huminized furniture.

Netty: But it IS a curse. Who would want to be turned into a hideous beast? And who would want to be turned into furniture and silverwear? And nobody really entertains the Beast, they just entertained Belle man ok.

Eww. Shouldn't the servants have been given a break? It was their master who needed the punishment. What did they ever do wrong? Perhaps some of them even had family outside the castle. Oh well, I guess fairy tales needn't be logical...

Eh, not really, it wasn't a favorite of mine. Kram'll probably get it because he's a completist (like me), and wants to collect all the Platinums.

I was more concerned about that old trollop Mrs. Potts. She is mother to Chip, as well as an entire tea service of other children - remember she sends Chip into the cupboard with his 'brothers and sisters'. Yet when the objects become human at the end Chip is clearly a small boy and Potts and old girl. Also there appears to be no Mr. Potts in the picture.

I thereby rest my case that Mrs. Potts is an old trollop.
