Chelsey Forbess was to voice young Nala, not Niketa Calame.

[S]he's had some big time brushes with showbiz.

When she was nine, for example, Chelsey was cast as the speaking voice of Young Nala in the movie The Lion King! She got to record the part at Disney Studios, and an animator sketched Young Nala based on Chelsey's look and voice. A few weeks after recording, however, top executives realized that Chelsey's voice was similar in timbre to the voice of Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who had the part of Simba, so they made the decision to give the part to another young girl who sounded completely different. "It was a close one though," says Chelsey. "I still have a framed sketch of what I would have looked like as Nala."



Chelsey sounded like Jonathan Taylor Thomas?

The Internet Movie Data Base has a picture of Niketa Calame. Cool! She's pretty. I think she is around 18 years old in the picture.

I'm guessing that the issue came out in 1994. Nikita looks like she's in her 20s. I thought she was a kid like Jonathan Taylor Thomas. lol! At the time the article was written Nikkita's son was 11. Wow.

Actually I think its James Earl Jones referring to his son.

Opps, thanks for the info. I misread the article. I rmember James Earl Jones having a son too.

I remember reading an article saying that Nikita was 11 when Disney recored her voice.
