This thread is where we put a recommendation for a movie (mainly non-Disney due to the idea of recommending classics we've all seen) on the forum so people can go and see good movies. Also, explain why it's a recommendation. Got it? Then recommend a movie!

Two movies i recommend people to see:

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Murder by Death

these movies are very funny

I definitely recommend Tokyo Godfathers, which is a wonderful remake of John Ford's The Three Godfathers.

Three homeless people find a baby on Christmas Eve, and decide to find the mother. There is a drunk who left his family, a teen-age girl who ran away, and a drag queen.

This is a PG-13 film, as there is some violence, a bit of language, and some non-PC comments directed to the drag queen (or from him.) There is also a breast in a non-sexual situation.

This is only Japanese language, with English subtitles.

I also reccomend It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World

But I also reccomend The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming

That also stars Carl Reiner, who was in It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

That movie is a laugh a minnute

I figured that I'd resurrect this thread. I'm making a list of movies that I have on VHS that I'd like to upgrade to DVD, and a list of movies that I'd like to possibly buy on DVD.

Besides my VHS collection, 99% of my DVDs are Disney. I have a list of Disney movies that I want to buy, too, but I know about those.

I guess, based on the movies that I like (that are listed below), if anyone has any recommendations for movies I may like, I'd love to hear them! Mainly I like chick flicks and teen movies...

Agreed, there are a number of similarities between it and Disney's Cinderella series. (My biggest complaint with it is how much the character of Shelby Cummings, who played my favorite Cinderella archetype, was caricatured. Since when is her type ever plain stupid?)

At the moment, I wholeheartedly recommend The Swan Princess. It's the kind of film that makes me wish more animated fairy tales had, ahm-- living good mothers. Queen Uberta is such a fantastic side character, and Sandy Duncan was her voice. (Vixey from The Fox & the Hound, although you may not recognize her!)

Agreed. And yes Sandy's British accent makes it hard to recognize her.

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is also recommended by me.

If you like Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford I recommend The Frisco Kid, Wilder plays a Polish Rabbi from who wanders the Old West going to San Fransico, during the journey he meets a bank Robber (Ford) and they form a friendship

The Iron Giant is an excellent movie and looks like it would fit your tastes.

"All Dogs Go to Heaven", one of the best Don Bluth films IMO.

I recommend this movie, I've seen it over and over again :

My friend and I went to see "Be Kind Rewind" today. It's a really weird movie but I like that it's a comedy with such a strange unique style standing out from today's usual comedy films.

I am now an official fan of the works of Michel Gondry. I think you will enjoy the parts of the film where theyre making their own versions of "Ghostbusters, Rush Hour 2, The Lion King, Robocop," and many others.

I think my first and foremost recommendation to other people is 1962's classic Masterpiece of ghostly, creepy, atmospheric horror:

And, for a more "mainstream" genre, my favorite Action movie:

I figured I'd bump this thread since I've been gaining inspiration to watch a lot of movies I want to see but haven't seen yet.

There are some more but I can't think right now.

I watched Stranger Than Fiction for the second time last night, having first seen it about a year ago. And I found it much more emotionally involving this second time around (and I cried at the end of the first viewing). So yes, I left the film crying like a new born baby.

It's an excellent film. I can't recommend it enough, even if you are a Will Farrell hater.

She's the Man, is a very good movie.
