If the rumored choice of composer in the article is true, I think the director has made a horrible mistake. John Williams has written some incredible music for this film franchise, especially for Prisoner of Azkaban. It makes more sense to keep a unified musical vision throughout the saga.

Oooh, I can't wait for the movie. Although I do hope that they don't chop it up too much. I can understand the director's reasoning behind not making two films out of Goblet of Fire, but there is just so much to cram into one movie.

Well, sometimes different composers work (i.e. Star Trek. The original six films had 4 different composers). But then again, Williams' scores are so damn beautiful, it would almost be an injustice for another composer to come in for the movie.

Renata, I share both your excitement and concerns. These pictures look awesome! As usual, the sets I imagined in my mind are perfectly translated onto the screen! However, the (apparent) lack of John Williams on this title is tragic!! WHAT was the director thinking? Even worse than that- a modern music soundtrack? I mean I'll try to keep an open mind and all, but I'm not happy with these rumors (assuming that's what they are?).

I really hope they don't cut too much from the book, however i think it is inevitable! It could end up as an 3 hour plus film! Well if they cut a lot out of this film, who knows how much will have to be cut from Order of the Phoenix!

Actually, the lack of John Williams isn't the director's fault at all. John Williams himself stepped down from this project because he's too busy scoring Star Wars Episode III and War of the Worlds. Considering this is the only reason why he's not doing Goblet of Fire, I think we can be assured that he'll return for Order of the Phoenix and beyond.

Perhaps the new composer will use stuff John Williams allready created and add some of his own. I can't imagine they're not using the Hedwigs Theme again. I mean.. if it doesnt start with Hedwigs Theme people will walk out thinking they're seeing the wrong movie

No way they would spend 320+ mil on this movie!! The 2nd only made 250 or something (domestic). That is freakin crazy! im not mad at the idea, just kinda suprised! Cant wait for the movie! looks awesome. I wanna see the 2nd task!

Hehe, I came to this thread just after posting about Harry in another thread. Thanks for posting the link, ichabod. I hadn't seen those and it looks pretty cool. It's nice to see other Harry fans on this board.

I'm not too worried about John Williams not composing. I love his work and I've bought each of the soundtracks so far, but I'm not going to worry. I'm sure they'll come up with something great anyway. And if they don't, I'll wait until after I see it to be upset.

Dark Horizons is reporting that Patrick Doyle is still lined up to compose the Goblet of Fire score, not Jarvis Cocker of Pulp as previously reported. However, Cocker will still have a small role in helping with the movie's music.

I do hope, however, that John Williams will return for future movies.

Domestic gross is only a fraction of the money that this film has made, and will continue to make. The worldwide gross was almost $800 million I believe, which in and of itself gives the movie a big profit. But on top of that you add in money made from merchandising, and then the DVD release of the film, and the profit is absolutely huge. If Goblet of Fire, with it's significantly larger budget, ends up making around the same amount of money as Prisoner of Azkaban, then there's still a big profit for Warner Bros. There's no way that they're going to give up on this series, not unless interest in it drops very significantly, but the chances of that happening are almost non-existant.

That said, I am a bit in shock at that budget number for Goblet of Fire. Not because I don't think Warner Bros. should put that much money into the film, but because it's so much larger than even the most costly of films today. Spider-Man 2 for example is supposedly one of the most expensive films ever made, yet its production budget was only around $220 million, nearly $100 million less than Goblet of Fire's! I can certainly see why they might need such a big budget for Goblet of Fire though, because the scale of the book is quite massive. I'm not talking about how long the book is, I'm talking about how huge the scale is, with the Triwizard Tournament, Quidditch World Cup, and so on. I really wish that they had decided to at least make the movie around three hours long instead of two, but I'm pretty sure I'll end up liking it anyways.

The photos look great, and get me really excited. This is the first time that I've been looking forward to one of the Harry Potter movies so far ahead of its release date. The first two movies my parents wouldn't let me see until this past May, and by then it was only a month until the release of Prisoner of Azkaban. (though I was quite hyped for that month) This time I get to go through the year+ long waiting experience. I'm expecting it to be both fun and torturous at the same time. Well, bring it on.
