What is your religious background?

I was just wondering what many of the people on this site
believed in. (I'm not out to convert anyone on here...I
was just curious.) I'm studying to be a minister,
and was just wondering about what some of your religious
preferences were. If you don't want to respond...please, by all means, don't. I was just wondering!

I was a passive "meh" kind of a Christian until about... 2000ish? That's when the oppressive private Christian high school I was sent to permanently turned me off to Christianity, and religion in general. Nothing traumatic happened - just enlightening. Finding out about the more "unsavory," elitist doctrines of Christianity disgusted me. So I went off to be a good person. Just to
be, just for myself - no other reason around it. Decency for its own sake. And if I'm going to hell for that - well then, stoke the fires, baby! 'Cause I'm comin' down!

Anyone else scared???
I was raised going to Baptist churches, though I think my family always considered ourselves to be nondenominational. Labels aside, I was brought up with a strong Christian foundation. Around 9th grade, I really starting delving into my own personal beliefs on politics and religion. It was at this time that I began to steer away from religiosity and denominations.
I'm a fundamentalist Christian with strong faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. People always want to know what denomination I'm in, but I just leave it at Christian.

I was raised as a Catholic, go to Catholic school, but my religion sways from being strong and weak; some days I'll be very devout, others atheistic, yet mostly inbetween the two extremes.

I'm seeing...I'm seeing...a big argument breaking out. Oh, no. I'm getting out of here.
(Um, hopefully I'm wrong. I really hope I am.)

Hopefully there shouldn't be any arguments here!
Please don't reply or quote anybody else's opinion's in this forum/poll.
I just wanted to know If anyone believes what I do,
and find out what we have in common.
If you want to debate about God or something, try to do it on another thread...
I just wanted to know.
Oh...by the way, I never stated what I "was".
I was raised a minster's son and then from 7th until 11th grade I
decided to become an athiest, until some unforseen events caused
me to re-examine my life. I came back to my faith in 2002
and I've never looked back since. I guess you could say I'm a
non-denominational Christian. I believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit,
and that the Bible is God's Word. (Even if you don't believe the Bible's true, it's still well-written - in my opinion - but Proverbs is a really cool book. I love the little sayings in it!)
I'm far from perfect,
but I love to hear what people believe even if I don't hold to their same believes. But I absolutely love to hear what people think. It's just really cool to get to know new people! Keep the comments flowing guys! I really enjoy hearing from you!

I'm a Christian (though far from a good one...) and have been baptized in the Christian Reformed Church.
I don't necessarily dislike labels or demoninations, but I feel it's not so much about which church you're part of, as it is about what's in your heart.
The Christian Reformed Church is a place that I feel at home, though. So I'm Christian Reformed.

Um, I'm a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints.
As Mother Superior said in the 60's Film Trouble With Angels.
You might have academics on your side, but we have the Lord on ours.
I have been a Mormon, all my life and probablly will be one until I die.

Same faith as DG. I've been LDS all my life. I'm a little laid back for a mormon, though...

same here, i had a testing of my faith. i spend many a sleepless night:)
I think what most people have said here rings true for me- forget about doctrines and dogma, what truly matters is your faith- and that goes for any faith imo.

I have no religious background, and do not at this time have any religious beliefs. I was not even baptized when I was born.

My family considers themselves Catholic even though they aren't very religious at all. I go to a Southern Baptist church and school, but I consider myself non-denominational because I find something I disagree with in practically every Christian denomination.
