A GOOFY MOVIE: BRING IT TO DVD AGAIN!
DOES ANYBODY ELSE IN THIS FORUM LOVE A GOOFY MOVIE?
IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITES, BUT IT HAS ONE OF THE WORST
PRESENTATIONS OF ANY OF THE DISNEY DVD'S.
THE SOUND WASN'T REMIXED (THE SOUND WAS EVEN MIXED FOR 5.1
BUT IT WASN'T TRANSPORTED OVER) AND THE
PICTURE SUFFERS FROM TERRIBLE PAN-SCANNING,
HORRIBLE ARTIFACTS,
AND WHAT EVEN APPEARS TO BE BAD NTSC CONVERSION.
IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE A BAD PAL-TO-NTSC CONVERSION!
WE'VE GOT TO GET THEM TO RE-RELEASE A GOOFY MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!

A shame it's offered in pan and scan only but the bonus features almost make up for that, almost.
I will say that if it were ever rereleased or upgraded from it's current version on DVD (I wouldnt hold my breathe), and the 'Goofy Success Story' along with the bonus Goof Troop episode weren't included in the reissue, I wouldn't buy it.

I thought A Goofy Movie was always at 1:33 since it was DTV.

I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but I do enjoy the sequence that pokes fun at The Country Bear Jamboree/Disney parks. The most memorable line is when Max starts to say, "My life is a living ... " and the character at the theme park interrupts with, "HELLo!" It greatly amused me in my younger years.

I think that a "Goofy Movie" special edition is very not needed(wow, bad grammar!
). It was an ok movie, and I think it's current treatment is fine.

Yes! I love A Goofy Movie!!!
When I first saw A Goofy Movie on video I feel in love with the movie since I was a teenager and felt the same way like Max did in high school.

I would LOVE to have a better release of this movie on DVD.
Or at least a better transfer (IN WIDESCREEN),I watch this on my portable player all the time since it's one of my favorite disney movies and it's so annoying to have two huge black bars on the sides when i know that more picture exists and i'm not seeing it.
I remember seeing this a long time ago when it was released theatrically and i loved it.

I'm sorry. I won't type in caps any more if it will make you feel better.Just Myself wrote:HEY, THAT1GUYPICTURES. YOU DIDN'T NEED TO PUT ALL YOUR TEXT IN CAPS! MAKES YA LOOK PISSED OFF. ANYWAY LEARN SOME NETIQUTTE, YOU SOUND REALLY PISSED.

Anyways...I don't think any movie, no matter how bad it is deserves to be pan-and-scanned. And for those of us who like the movie...the transfer it terrible, the bonus features are good, but it's still pan-and-scan. I will never settle for pan and scan...no matter how small the width of the picture is. Besides it's the animorphic quality of the picture that I long for.
Is anyone else with me!?

GOOFY MOVIE - 16x9 Enhanced Version
I do have a new DVD transfer of A Goofy Movie that is actually a downconversion from the Region 4 PAL transfer. It is 16x9 Enhanced, 1.85:1, and is presented in an enhanced Dolby 2.0 Surround PCM track.
The audio track has also been enhacned for further surround activity and has a more active low end. (Below 150k) If you like this movie, it's pretty darn cool! I might post some screenshots of it later...(I have to figure out what program Luke uses to capture DVD images at such a consistant quality for his DVD reviews...) I have done some comparing to the original Full screen and the movie HAS been cropped from 1.85:1 to 1.33:1.
I created it myself by using 2:3 pulldown techniques using FlaskMPEG and several other programs. The soundtrack IS NOT SPED UP like the region 4 release, because of this pulldown. I'm also usually very critical of transfers, but this transfer does blow the original FULL SCREEN (which was just ok) out of the WATER! (This is because the PAL widescreen transfer was a better transfer to begin with and was also higher resolution.)
For more information on why it looks better...find any given post by deathie mouse.
There are no other special features on the disc, and nearly the entire disc is used...3.9GB. The original NTSC R1 transfer is only 3 GB for the movie
and 3.5 GB of special features. Contact me through e-mail if you are interested in more information.
Anyone who's interested in information about how you can make your own, or anyone who'd like to see about getting a hold of one (if you already own a legal copy and can prove it with a picture...) post a reply to this thread, or better yet, send me a personal message....

Excuseme moi... MOI?That1GuyPictures wrote:The soundtrack IS NOT SPED UP like the region 4 release, because of this pulldown.
Is that why Tevin Campbel's songs have a completely different tempo to the ones on the Soundtrack?

Yes...almost any PAL film you watch has a higher pitch to the sound due to a faster film presentation rate. That is why the film "A Goofy movie" runs 73 mins in Austrailia and 78 mins in the US. Nothing was cut out, but it's just presented in a different television format (which has a different frame rate) causing the films to speed up.Excuseme moi... MOI?

Ask Deathie Mouse if you have any other questions about this topic....
Or see one of Deathie's other posts...there's a lot of differences between PAL and NTSC formats!

LOL, sorry. I don't know what I was doing.DisneyChris wrote:Escapay, why are you saying that Goofy Movie was DTV? Yet you know it's located at "Other Animation Films", not "Direct-to-video"?
You puzzle me.
I guess because I never saw it in theaters (only on The Disney Channel), that I thought it was DTV, even though I checked under "Other Animated".
