NOt to change the subject, but how come no one has mentioned these 2 disney movies coming out next year : Glory Road, and The Greatest Game Ever Played? and this is touchstone but what about Hitchickers guide to the galaxy? Considering Disneys idea to revamp the disney logo, i wouldnt be surprised if its changed. i kinda hope we will start seeing more disney films than touchstone. there seems to be more touchstone, which is sad because the studio was built on family entertaiment!

btw: anyone know any news on "All-American Girl"? looks like 2005 will be busy.

they had to take that number out of the movie because my sister kept getting calls. IM KIDDING!

They could very well end up under Disney. I've seen a couple of different places where Disney management claimed that they're going to try and make Disney films as the majority of their output, rather than Touchstone. Probably not a bad idea, seeing as how the ratio of bad Touchstone movies to bad Disney movies is pretty high.

I didn't know that Ben Affleck dropped out of <i>Glory Road</i>. Hadn't heard of <i>Greatest Game Ever Played</i>. A golf drama? Hmm. At least it has Bill Paxton directing, and Shia starring.

I don't know if there's room to fit all these Disney films in one year. I guess in 1995, they were able to put out 7 live action films, 3 animated films, and a documentary under the "Disney" banner. Many of the upcoming releases are rather high-profile titles, though.

i had never heard about mighty ducks 4 until i read it here! i was shocked! i thought it was a dead franchise! it would be cool if joshua jacksons character was the ducks new coach!

Eh, this really is a new topic...so I've split it from the Santa Clause thread so it gets the proper amount of pondering it deserves!

I don't know why Disney is making MD4. It's going to be a flop. If you've seen 1 you've basically seen them all. Everyone knows in the end there is going to be a big hockey match that the MD team looks like they can't win, but low and behold they end up winning.

im glad though! I love to talk about future disney! i want ricky ullman to have a contract w/ disney lol. how about a remake of melin jones with ricky ullman as merlin! LOL

i wonder if disney will have ANOTHER herbie sequel if the new one is successful?

Bumping this thread to see how predictable movies will perform with critics and moviegoers.

From the 8 Disney films that seem penciled in under the "Disney" banner for 2005, I would guess:

Pooh's Heffalump Movie (mild reviews, mild box office)
Ice Princess (mild-to-poor reviews, modest box office)
Herbie: Fully Loaded (poor reviews, decent box office)
Chicken Little (decent reviews, strong box office)
Sky High (mild reviews, decent box office)
The Shaggy Dog (poor reviews, decent box office)
Cars (great reviews, great box office)
Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (strong reviews, strong box office)

We'll have to check back around Christmas of next year to see if I'm right!

Part of me hopes that I'm way off on some of these and the movie industry isn't this predictable.

Has anyone forgotten Disney's going with a new darker edge, that started with POTC, died, started up again with National Treasure and is gonna keep going? I think there are going to be many possible Disney movies with a much darker edge, with the most notable being Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Well, I'm dissappointed The Hitchhikers Guide has been moved to Disney. I think a film that stays faithful to the original isn't really a Disney films, especially if it take more inspiration from the book rather than the radio series. I guess this indicates its likely to be "dumbed down".

The Pacifier. Why? Why? Why? It didn't work for Hulk Hogan and it won't work for Vin Diesel.

I'm also not sure how much international appeal films like Glory Road and The Greatest Game Ever Played will have. Miracle is out on UK DVD, but never came to the cinemas. Its also had no promotion on DVD, so I guess it will only sell a few copies. The same fate seems to be likely for these two films.

At this point, I don't think that specific changes would need to be made to make it a "Disney." Look at <i>National Treasure</i> - the 12-minute preview alone clearly shows that this isn't a Disney film, but rather Disney trying to expand the e'er-recognizable brand name with a wider range of fare. Whether or not it stays faithful to its source was already decided, as filming wrapped in September.

I'm not sure how much local appeal they'll have either. Bruckheimer films generally do well, but a golf movie...starring Shia LaBeouf...directed by Bill Paxton? That must be a low-budget movie with reasonable expectations, since I'd be shocked if it were a hit.

It actually looks rather fun, and dare I say it, better than any of the "classic" Herbie films.

Oh and I just adore the poster. It's so stylish. Fantastic! I may actually be looking forward to this (when it comes to DVD, naturally. We don't do cinemas).

According to the author of the book, the script has not been written yet and they do not have a starting filming date. So, who knows.
And I think this will simply be a Disney Channel movie, not a theater release.
Any news will most likley be posted on the AAG message board at megcabotbookclub.com or in the author's blog on her website.

Right now, it still has not been filmed, or is there a script. But, it is supposed to start shooting feb/march and have a late summer release in theaters.
