i'm looking into getting this movie. it is beautifully shot. the movie is a bit long for the story I think, butstill enjoyable. However, my question is which is the best edition? I'm assuming the 2 disc collector's edition. However, rumor has it that Columbia may rerelease this one soon. Can nayone confirm or deny this? Please give me any kind of info on the Lawernce of arabia dvds that are available.....thanks!

I have the 2-Disc Limited Edition, and I'm perfectly content with it. Some complain about the transfer (less about its strength than its fidelity to original prints), but it looked great to me. There is also a single disc version and a "Superbit" version, but I'm never really interested in having less extras.

I also have the 2 disc set and I'm very happy with it. I love the extras on the set.

I don't know about future DVD editions, but about the curently available ones here's an article straight from R Harris (the restorer)'s mouth:

If you have both a PAL capable multi-region DVD player and display there are PAL superbit versions too that would look the best (for now) with their 20% more resolution (But sadly all these superbits seem to be bare bones)
Lawrence being a 70mm film (For some the greatest 70mm film) I'm sure it will be one of the flagships of the future Sony Blue-Ray DVD format since 70mm films are capable of making even 2048 x 4500 images easily
