Would you like reviews of some Touchstone and Miramax DVDs?

I was thinking that if there was interest, UltimateDisney.com could start reviewing a select number of the major DVD releases from Disney's other film branches (most notably, Touchstone and Miramax). The focus of the site would still remain on films bearing the "Walt Disney Pictures" name, but if people like the reviews, I think this could add something worthwhile to the site.
I'd love to hear your opinions on the matter. Thanks.

Yeah, I really like that idea, actually. However, I think they should be given their own page, separate from the "Disney" reviews. Maybe something like "Other Buena Vista Reviews" or something along those lines.

As long as they are animated, no problem with me. I have The Nightmare Before Christmas and Thumb and Thumbellina. My kids love them.

What's in a name? That which we call a Disney film, by any other name, would smell as sweet.
If you review films with other Disney labels, it might be good to emphasize those with family appeal. Films like The Nightmare Before Christmas could have been released under the Disney label without much problem. Sometimes I'm surprised about films released under the Disney name, as well as films released under Touchstone or the others, which could have just as easily been Disney.

To clarify, this would be less about revisiting already-released Touchstone/Miramax DVDs and more about covering major new releases. I don't have any intention to trying to cover the hundreds of available titles in the catalogues of non-"Disney" Buena Vista branches, but significant new DVDs with wide appeal - I'm thinking of things like King Arthur and The Village...are reviews of these something that people would want to see?
Of course, some major releases that have flirted with the Disney name - like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Nightmare Before Christmas, maybe even Hidalgo would seem reasonable to have me or someone else review for the site.
Anyway, keep the feedback coming. Thanks!

i think you should, but i dont think you should with miramax. touchstone is 100% DISNEY. i do consider touchstone films DISNEY. but not DISNEY DISNEY if im making sense. I know there are times where id like to get news from this site than any other. like how i have to search for info on raising helen and king arthur. and i would like to read this sites reviews on touchstone films becasue i like your review format. you could either mention the movies that disneys website mentions like spy kids and ellea enchanted. or you could create ultimatetouchstone.com
if you made a list of touchstone films it would be ALOT easier than including miramax.

I voted no, I would prefer the site to stick to Disney reviews. But if you do decide to do reviews for other Buena Vista movies I wouldn't object.... come to think of it I should have voted that it doesnt matter for me either way... but still lean more to Disney-only.... do I still make sense?

Yes. The more UD reviews, the better!

Just Myself, I'm sure Luke woulda have liked more than the poll choice answer in you feedback
My vote is yes too cus I like UD reviews very much and I'd love Luke styled Who Framed Roger Rabbit/Nightmare Before Christmas reviews and other Disney related films.
Also things like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke or other stuff could had their own UD section reviews. I have a foreign CGI animation movie DVD that the Walt Disney Company distributes in its country too. In fact sometimes I'd like to see some of other non Disney related reviews also!

Maybe that section could be called "Luke's choice DVD picks" or something

I think this would be a great way to expand the site, just so long as the distinctions between "Disney" and "Other" are clearly specified, which I don't think would be a problem.

All things considered in most cases the movies released by those studios are just Disney movies packaged for adult audiences. Movies like Mystery Alaska contain all the fun of a Disney movie with the adult spice and language necessary to appeal to the older Disney Freaks
So I say why not, I would like to know more about what's out there and what a great place to do it

I would like to see a review of Princess Mononoke to go with the reviews of the Studio Ghibli titles released by Disney (although not for myself, as I already own this great film.)
Speaking of the Ghibli titles, where are the reviews for those?

I say why not. My only concern is whether or not the site might get too bogged down with reviews since Touchstone and Miramax release DVD's more often than Disney does, I believe. Still, it'd add some variety and spice to the site. Would you be getting review copies early, Luke, like you currently are with Disney titles? I think the site benefits greatly from early reviews.
As for the Studio Ghibli films, I've been wanting to review Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away (I don't have Castle in the Sky, yet), but I was told that someone else had dibs on these titles, so expect reviews from that person soon, I guess.

If it doesn't make you crazy (crazier?), you should go for it, Luke.
