Welcome to "Which Song Is The Best? - Round 24"! Here you can vote for your favourite song of the current Disney animated classic in the round, and if you like, you can rank them simultaneously too. Voting period lasts for 2 days. This round we have...
The Lion King
*Because some Disney animated classics have only one or no songs, and I want to ignore the WWII "package" features, the following films will be left out from the game: Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, The Black Cauldron, The Rescuers Down Under, Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

Whoo hoo! My favorite Disney movie. Lots of great songs folks. But my favorite is the heartpounding opening song "Circle of Life".
1. Circle of Life
2. Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
3. Hakuna Matata
4. I Just Can't Wait To Be King
5. Be Prepared
6. Morning Report*
*This song was completely unnecessary for the SE.

Shame on you, Disney!

1. Circle of Life
2. Hakuna Matata
3. Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
4. Be Prepared
5. I Just Can't Wait To Be King
(long space)
6. Morning Report
Circle of Life is the best opening number with the possible exception of the great Bells of Notre Dame/Out There combo.
I don't consider Morning Report to be a Disney song, and I only included it out of completeness for the poll. Why they would take out a hilarious dialogue scene and replace it with a song that is not very amusing and disrupts the flow of the movie is quite beyond me.

I feel the same way. I'd have a tough time ranking the rest, but "Circle of Life" would just barely be my #1.

Okay, guys, you're being too tough on Morning Report here. YES, it is NOT nessesary for the SE movie and they shouldn't have included it. But it was originally written for the Broadway musical production, where a long dialogue scene like that just would not have worked. If everyone had seen it in Broadway context first I think it'd be a lot more well recieved as a song. As a scene in the film it doesn't work nearly as well as the dialogue does, but it's a funny, well-written song and is enormously effective in its original intended Broadway setting.
Okay, rant over.
Circle of Life is my top.

2. Be Prepared
3. Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
4. I Just Can't Wait To Be King
5. Hakuna Matata

Tough list. Circle of Life is phenomenal, and all of these are grade-A songs, with the exception of Morning Report, which is a good but not great.
What dialogue was taken out of the film?

Aaron, the missing dialogue is Zazu talking about "the buzz from the bees, cheetahs never prosper," etc., and the pouncing coaching from Mufasa.
