DTV movies

Hey everybody,
I've decided recently to try collecting most of the DTV animated classics sequels. However, I don't want to get the ones like Cinderella II, where it's just like 3 short episodes of stuff, I new "movies", so to speak. I was wondering if someone would be so kind as to help me discern which ones actually qualify as movies, and if I'm missing any period, the list on this site is by release sate, so it's very possible.

Known Epsiode sequels:
Cinderella II
Beatuty and The Beast: "some subtitle"

Known Movies:
Aladdin 2 & 3
Lion King 2 & 3

Unknowns:
Return to Neverland (I think it's a movie, but I'm not 100%)
Jungle Book II
Little Mermaid II
Lady and the Tramp II
101 Dalmations 2
Hunchback 2
Stitch the Movie
Atlantis: Milo's Return
Tarzan and Jane, and possibly Tarzan II, if there's any info
Mulan II
Emperor's New Groove

That looks like all of them, correct me if I missed any please. Also, I noticed the Hercules: Zero to Hero VHS, was it episodic or a move, and has there been any word or rumors about a possible release sometime before the next millenium. Thanks to everyone who posts in reply.

Atlantis: Milo's Return, Tarzan and Jane, and Hercules: Zero to Hero were all just episodes culled together from their respective animated series with newly drawn sequences to connect the episodes. Tarzan and Hercules, however, do have real sequels in the works.

The Emperor's New Groove's sequel hasn't been released yet, but chances are it'll be a movie, since no animated series is in the works.

Return to Neverland and Jungle Book 2 were both movies, but were actually released in theaters first.

Stitch the Movie isn't actually a sequel. A real Lilo & Stitch 2 is in the works.

I believe all of the other things you listed are indeed DTV movies.

From what I can tell, you're missing Pocahontas 2 and Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (not to be confused with Belle's Magical World) on that list. I think An Extremely Goofy Movie was also DTV, although I'm not sure if you'd count that.

Thanks

thanks, and Pocahontas completely slipped my mind, I was even looking at it as I typed that up. Ah well, brain fart. Anyway, are any of them actually worth it, I've read lots of negative reviews, and while I enjoyed the Aladdin and Lion King sequels, some of those other ones have been drug through the mud again, and again, and again, and again.....

In my opinion, while some of the DTV sequels aren't too bad and are actually kinda enjoyable, none of them feel at all necessary. If you loved the original movie, I don't think the sequels will really add much, since most of them are just retreads of their respective original's plot. If you're collecting for the sake of collecting, then that probably doesn't matter, but if you want to actually enjoy the DTVs, be prepared to lower expectations.

And you were probably better off forgetting Pocahontas II ;)

The Beauty and the Beast episode sequel was called "Belle's Magical World"

Stitch the Movie, and The Return of Jafar were TV series intro sequels. Meaning they were made to introduce folks to a tv series that run under a different plot line. However they both can qualify also as real sequels since they have featuring length storylines that follow their original movies. Lilo and Stitch 2 may or may not have connections with the TV series.

Hercules: Zero to Hero was just a movie clip show of the Hercules TV series

Tarzan and Jane was just a movie clip show of The Legend of Tarzan. A really great animated series but a very pointless DTV movie.

I dunno if theyre still doing an Atlantis TV series. If they did, it wouldve been on TV by now. But Milo's Return was suppose to be an intro to the TV series.

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Xmas is less of a movie and more of a long Xmas special. Mainly because it's a flashback.

Go to this link to learn about the Winnie the Pooh sequels

The Lion King 1 1/2 is a parody sequel. It's not supposed to have any serious story connections to the original but it's still a fun and interesting insight of Timon and Pumbaa

These in my book qualify as real sequels:
Lion King 2: Simba's Pride
Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamp's Adventure
101 Dalmations 2: Patch's London Adventure
Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea
Pocahontas 2: Journey to a New World
Hunchback of Notre Dame 2
Return of Jafar/Aladdin and the King of Thieves
Return to Neverland (aka Peter Pan 2)
Jungle Book 2
Mulan 2

okay i maybe misisng something myself, but I'm having a hard time thinking right now

Return to Jafar was not episodes. I bought it when it first came out on laserdisc. It was a new DTV movie. And IMHO quite good.

We really enjoy 'Stitch: The Movie' here. Not the greatest sound quality, but my son and I usually pick it over Lilo and Stitch to watch. But maybe that's just us!
